Hi,
My name is Sara and I am 46 years old.... I started looking at myself in the mirror and not liking what I saw. For years I knew I was chunky but when I actually got serious and really LOOKED I was shocked no matter if I looked straight into the mirror or turned to the side... I WAS THE SAME SIZE.

In Aug of 2010 my Fiance suffered a heart attack... he was 54 years old and reasonably healthy.... this happened while at work. This was a wake up call for us to change our way of life... not only diet but also exercise... easier said than done.

I started looking at what we ate, when we ate how much we exercised.. Iw as shocked..w e ate out 3-4 times a week at fast food restaraunts.... processed meats int he fridge and tv for afterwards.

IN 2011 made the effort to begin changing what we did, cut back on eating out ( and when eat out dining places that offered veggies), going for walks, and more veggies and home prep foods at home.

November 2011 I started changing myself, I began to look at weight loss pills,,,,, tried lipozene, quick slim, relacore... etc... nothing worked..... then a friend introduced me to Adipex.... one a day plus exercise and WOW what a difference. 20 lbs in 2 1/2 months... most water weight I know as I am peeing more often.

But on the way to better eating and healthy Life. Ia m looking for better reciepes that are cost efficent and tasty without breaking the bank

I like to make salads. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea though. But I mix it up, I buy the bulk bags of frozen chicken breasts (no breading) and cook one, cut it up and use it on my salad, along with a little reduced fat cheese and hard boiled eggs. It's really saved me a lot of money preparing them myself.

Sara, welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Challenge or Support group to join; small check-in groups make it easier to connect, get involved, and be accountable. We have groups centering around specific diets, themes, or age groups, find one that inspires you and just post to join! Be sure to check out the 40-somethings.
