Newbie... and excited.
Hello everyone, I am a 25 yo female from Las Vegas, NV who has decided to finally take control of her body. In 2005 I was working in a small clinic, and we had a problem with our xray machine. I suffered radiation poisoning which killed my thyroid. I became hypothyroidic, and was unable to maintain my normal weight, which at that time was around 120lbs. I am 5'7" and that seemed to fit my body nicely. I gained 65lbs over three months and gave up hope. Over the last few years I started to want to regain control over my life again, but found that when I tried to lose weight it was very difficult because of my thyroid and even though my levels were normal on medication I didn't seem to be able to lose weight normally. Which is when I started my yo-yo regimen. I would work out then give up, get motivated then quit. It was a back and forth emotional roller coaster to say the least. Then I decided to finally in 2010 take over my life. I wasn't going to let this thyroid get the best of me, and I wasn't going to use it as a crutch anymore. I was finally going to take control over my life and lose weight. I was at my highest of 206.8 October 2011, and now December 2011 I weight 186.6. I changed my diet, and my outlook. Now to keep going to my goals. I set small goals and my end goal is around 135 lbs, to a healthy point where I both feel good and look good. :carrot: However, I have learked on this site for many months, I wasn't sure about joining until I had maintained my motivation and my outlook for a bit, because the back and forth is no fun. I hope to learn a lot, and take from the people here knowledge of healthy weight loss, I hope to give support, and tips when possible.
