Making real changes

Hello there! I'm a 24 year old student from Canada and I have been struggling with my weight on and off...basically my whole life. To hear my whole story please check out my 3FC blog as it is too long to post here! I'm at university this year studying to be a high school teacher, so my fall has been insane so far. I try to do a lot of cardio because weights make my heart sad, but I have also been belly dancing for three years and it's amazing for core strength and toning.
I am currently sitting at about 195 pounds and would like to make it down to 150, maybe lower. We'll see how motivated I get!
I'd been toying with the idea of going low-carb, but I don't think that's a diet that would be necessarily good for me. So instead I am going to look at this practically and up my intake of low-glycemic fruits and vegetables, while decreasing my grain intake. I will also be cutting out red meat (environmental reasons), and will possibly go pescatarian. Not full vegetarian because for me giving up fish is like giving up breathing.

I'd love some company on this weight loss journey so please feel free to look up my blog and chat with me!

You sound a bit like me. I found what they call low carb is ususally low refined carbs... which totally makes sense and isn't hard on the body at all. Fruits and vegetables are definately part of the "low carb diet." Just stay away from flour and sugar.

Good luck!
