Actually trying for the first time...

Hi everyone... I'm 24 and a bit heavier than I'd like to be. Freshman 15 hit me with a little more than just 15 pounds and over the years I've just crept upwards. I'm a very laid back person, and I love the person that I am, but I kindof rationalized my laziness away by telling myself, "Oh, I'll be fine so long as I don't go over 200. If I ever hit 200, THAT's when I'll actually try." Well, I'm not at 200, but I've hovered just below it for a long while. I know I could really lose weight if I tried, I just have trouble finding the motivation.

I've lost a little recently, but I know it's not coming off as fast as it could. I started taking 30-45 min walks 5 days a week, and I've just switched from a Lean Cuisine diet to that Special K diet they advertise on the box (replace 2 meals with their cereal and lose a pants size in 2 weeks?). To be honest, I switched mostly because it's cheaper, not because I think it'll help more.

I came across this site, oddly enough, while looking for wide-calf galoshes, and figured here would be where I could find the motivation I need to actually get moving. Anyway, not really sure what else to say, other than...hi!

Hi. Welcome to the forum. There are many great people here that can help you through your journey. I have tried the special K diet and it only lasted 3 days. I was constantly hungry and always had food on my mind. I lost 5 lb in those three days but gained it all back plus more.

Aw man... I suppose I'll finish out the box and just see how it goes. The fact that I'm now exercising will probably overtake any loss I might get from the cereal anyway. Thanks though!

Welcome! I'm glad you're addressing it now. I had to get close to 300 pounds (263) to finally wake up and realize the time to do something was around 100 pounds ago. You can do this, and we'll support you all along the way!

Thank you very much! I actually just found the thread I needed! Sarge's No Excuses & No Whining Boot Camp, it's exactly the motivation I need ^_^
