Newbie wanting my sexy back!

Hello to all you wonderful people taking control of you lives! I registered some time ago but never actively participated. I had a recent "melt down" in a department store dressing room and have decided to pick myself up, dust myself off and do something about it! I don't know where to start! :?: Here's what I do know....One day at a time! I need all the help I can get. Here's what I'm working with.....52 years young, flabby, very little muscle tone, want to get rid of 50 pounds, sedentary lifestyle and a smoker with a hectic schedule. :dizzy: I know all of this must change. Please share realistic plans with me. Be gentle with me, remember I'm a newbie but not afraid of working at it. By the by, my name is Janet. Hope to hear from you soon. :grouphug:

Welcome! Can you give us an idea of what your schedule is like. That could help us make some suggestions.

Welcome to the forum.
Here is my advice for what it is worth. Find a food plan that is flexible enough to fit in your busy lifestyle. WW has a pretty flexible food plan, counting calories is flexible. I personally count calories. It allows me to eat basically whatever I want (try keeping it healthier) as long as it fits within my calorie range. I keep my calories between 1300-1400 per day. There are many different apps that you can use to help track your calories, I personally use the pen and paper method but whatever works and is easy for you.
Drink as much water as you can. Water is good for us and helps flush out the system.
Add in some moderate exercise. Whatever works in your busy schedule, a quick walk during lunch, a half of hour at home before you start your day. Whatever you can do to get some extra exercise will add up.
I may get shunned for this last piece of advice and it is do not try to stop smoking AND lose weight at the same time, trying to conquer two huge life changes at one time will be too stressful. I too am a smoker and when I reach goal, I will work on the smoking, knowing that I will NOT gain weight because I have learned healthier options if a snack attack hits.
Best of luck to you. We are close in age and I was your size when I started, my loss has not been fast but I am learning life long healthier habits!!
