Its finally happened- I am a fat chick.

I'm been thin my entire life, this summer I just blew up out of the blue; put on 30 pounds in a month. I'm currently 150, and hoping to lose 50 by Christmas.
I'm 20, I go by the name Pixie.
So, hola! ^,^

Welcome to 3FC =)

We'd love to help support you on your journey!

My only concern is that trying to lose 50 pounds in only 3 months is a bit ambitious. I do think it's great that you want to nip the weight gain in the bud. :)

What's your plans for food and exercise?

bargoo 09-26-2011 04:30 AM

30 pounds in one month ? Are you sure about that ? That is quite shocking ! I would suggest you choose a sensible weight loss and exercise plan, do not go on a crash diet.

bargoo 09-26-2011 04:32 AM

How tall are you ? Do you really want to weigh only 100 pounds ?

Missy Krissy 09-26-2011 08:11 AM

You might want to set some mini-goals for yourself, and/or lower the 50lb by Christmas to keep from getting discouraged. If you start with a small goal that you know you can reach, you'll feel better than if you set a big goal and don't get the results you expected by your deadline.

hpnodat 09-26-2011 08:23 AM

I don't want to sound discouraging but most people don't gain 30 lbs out of the blue in one month. I'd strongly suggest going to the doctor and see if there's a reason why you gained so quickly, especially when you've been thin your whole life. Good for you for wanting to nip it in the bud though.

30 pounds in one month is a lot. I second hpnodat's comment. Go to a doctor and see what's happening- if anything.

bargoo 09-26-2011 09:49 AM

I wondered about the 30 pounds, too, and wondered if maybe this was just a guess. Was it really more than a month. I agree , however that 30 pounds imn one month is quite a lot.
I am wondereing if she really gained thirty pounds and wondering , too if she really wants to get down to 100 pounds.
Hate to be a skeptic but this post, to me, is a little questionable. I notice that she has had only one post.

onexxxlove 09-26-2011 06:52 PM

I've been to my doctor, and while I'm waiting for my blood test results to come in, they all are pretty sure that there's no medical reason behind my weight gain.
I know this sounds a little ambitious, but I've always been an overachiever, and have experience in crash diets, which usually work for me.

bargoo, I only have one post, as I just joined and this is my introduction post.
I'm not sure why someone would lie about gaining 30 pounds, and who in the world wouldn't really want to get down to 100 pounds?

Missy Krissy 09-26-2011 10:17 PM

This is going to be tough to hear, but if crash diets "work for you", then you wouldn't be trying to loose weight still. The only way to keep the weight off is to make healthy, permanent lifestyle changes (I struggle with sticking with healthy choices, greasy fattening food is like a drug for me). It's ok if change is slow to come, the point is that it IS coming.

onexxxlove 09-27-2011 12:22 AM

I used to struggle with anorexia, which is why I have big weight loss goals, I think. That's another reason that this weight gain is a big bummer to me. -.-

OhThePlaces 09-27-2011 09:09 AM

Hi and welcome! I for one *wouldn't* want to get to 100 lbs...I'd look like a sickly skeleton! If you've struggled with anorexia in the past, crash dieting and goals of losing so much weight in such a short amount of time sounds like an especially dangerous road for you to go down...

I didn't accuse you of lying about 30 pounds. I just questioned the time frame 30 pounds in one month is quite unusual. As for 100 pounds I am just 5 feet tall and would not want to get down to 100 pounds, I would look ghastly and probably feel that way, too. In addition it would be very difficult to maintain.
I wish you luck in your weight loss efforts but still recomend a healthy diet, it will be much more long lasting, and yes I have done the crash dieting, too. I am sure there is not a diet in the world that at least one person in 3FC has not tried.

I gained 30lbs in a month from taking the depo shot. I had just quit smoking a month prior and the shot gave me a terrible sweet tooth. Believe me it is possible.

Welcome to 3FC and congrats on making the decision to lose the extra weight.

Gaining 30lbs in a month would require some SERIOUS overeating. I do hope all is well with your blood tests.

50lbs in three months is an extremely ambitious goal, especially considering how (relatively) small you are already. You'll find that 3FC isn't terribly supportive of crash diets, because the vast majority (if not all) are unhealthy and they don't offer any long term success. Most of us are looking to make a lifestyle change, not be on a diet, even if we are using a meal plan or specific program.

That said, there are a bunch of options available to you that offer healthy, sustainable weight loss. It will most likely take longer than three months, but you can definitely make a substantial dent in your weight by Christmas. There are support groups for calorie counting, weight watchers, ideal protein..just to name a few. :) That is not to say you have to choose one of those plans to be effective, just that there are tons of options available to lose the weight and keep it off for good.

Hope to see you around the forum!
