New!

Hi everyone! I'm new to this journey. Currently I'm at my highest weight of 280lbs and I feel horrible :( I'm hoping to drop to 160 in the next year/year and a half. I've started calorie counting and I'm eating about 1000/1200 a day. I've enjoyed looking through the posts to see everyone's before and after pictures. I'm hoping the support here will help me stay on top of my weight loss!!!!

Any suggestions for healthy dinners are gladly welcome!

Hi anr121110! Welcome to 3FC. Congratulations on your decision to work on being healthier. 1000-1200 calories/day seems very low, given your current weight. Is that what your doctor recommended? I hope to see you around the boards.

Welcome to 3FC :) One of my favorite low calorie dinners is a serving of pasta (depending on brand between 200 - 250 calories) with a whole box of one of the frozen lightly sauced veggie mixes. My favorite is bird's eye and it has red peppers, broccoli, and carrots in a garlic butter sauce. I make the pasta and microwave the veggies. I put the pasta in a big bowl and then dump the veggies on top and mix. Sometimes I add a little extra buttery spread (I use Brummel & Brown which is 45 calories a tbsp). All in all with the entire box of veggies (2 servings is usually in each box), the portion of pasta and a little extra butter it comes out around 450 calories. Very big & satisfying!

I can't help but echo theox's concerns too. I just want to caution you about trying to start out too low. It's easy to try and go as low as possible because you want to lose fast, but it can be harmful to your metabolism. I eat around 1800 calories a day and I still lose between 1 lb to 1 1/2 lbs a week easily :)

Welcome!

So glad to have you join us on your journey :D

Since you asked for suggestions, I'm going to suggest you start out eating 1500 - 1800 calories a day. You'll lose weight at a healthy rate, and your body will be getting more of the nutrients it needs while you lose fat.

Best of wishes on your journey!~
