Lots of weight to lose!

Hello everybody. My name is Lisa. I am 23 years old and I live in the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois. I've been battling with weight problems since I was about 10 years old. My family passed it off as me growing too much (I hit my growth spurt early!) and I'm finally just now getting help for it.

I've had Rheumatoid Arthritis since 2004, and I just recently found out that I have PCOS and hypothyroidism too. It finally feels like a weight has been lifted from my shoulders that I now know where the weight gain came from, and now I just need to get it under control! My doctor advised me to go with the south beach diet so I'll be giving that a try with regular exercise as well.

I really do like being a member of forums and I'm happy I found a forum with people looking for the same things as me :>

Welcome!

Welcome to the site:)
I feel your pain with your condition(I was diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis last year) its hard to battle things from the medical world and weight loss but you seem to have the right attitude. Good luck on your journey!

Yes you are on right track. If you lose weight, all your prvoblems will reduce drastically. It may be slow but doesn't matter. I have met ladies who took 2-3 years to reach goal. You are young you will do it much faster. Once you are in a position to exercise, may be after 2-3 months, you will feel much better.
Hugs to you. You are younger than my 2kids. I will pray for you.

Hi Lisa!
I actually just joined this forum today and yours was the first post I read. I really happy I did because we have quite a bit in common. I'm also 23 and have quite a bit of weight to lose. My doctors have been suggesting that I suffer from PCOS, but they haven't been able to officially diagnose me yet.
It's nice to meet you and I wish you the best of luck!

Thank you all for the warm welcomes :).

Yes, it's a pain in the butt being this young and having a list of problems, but I hope it can be fixed up soon! I hope I'll start seeing progress soon :)~
