Hi, I never posted before, but I joined a few months ago

  • I am on my weight loss journey. Really a life change journey. It started last October 2010: I weighed 218...I am only 5 feet tall. I was more width than height. My blood pressure was 199/110. Anyway I was feeling bad. I decided to do something about it. I was looking around the internet to find some before and after pictures for encouragement, and I found this site. I have run the gamut. But I now exercise and watch my energy intake. I have 33 pounds to lose to be in the healthy zone, and 37 pounds to have meet my goals.

Like many people all my life I suffered from depression and anxiety, but I have found, in my case I had to train my brain just like my muscles. For instance, when I find myself thinking negative thought, sometimes deep dark depressive thoughts, I have to literally measure the time frame, then measure the time frame of keeping the negative thoughts out of my head. With years of practice I have learned to minimize the negative thoughts until they are background noise, at times. But I gained all of my weight during my twenties during a terrible marriage. I just turned 51 and I am finally feeling good, infact better than I have in more than 13 years.
  • Welcome dear.
Start day by thanking lord for your weightloss success. Also for little little happiness in your life. End the day with thinking you are lucky because you are not in third world country, where existance is a battle. Keep counting your blessings and you will train your brain to be happy.
  • Welcome to posting!

So happy to read your journey Congratulations on all the changes you've made and I wish you much continued success!

I completely agree that we have to flex our mental muscle and train it just the same as any other thing we do.
