New to the community
Hi everyone! I came across your forum yesterday after realizing how much weight I really need to lose and immediately logged online to find a support group of people who I can talk to who understand.
I've known for a long time I was overweight. Since I was 12, I always weighed slightly more than I should. However, it seems to have spiraled out of control. I remember a few years ago I hit 200 lbs and cried hysterically for hours after leaving the Doctor's office. It has definitely gotten even more control now years later. This morning I weighed in at 258.4. I have been on diets before and always done well, then started letting myself get away with it again. But I am determined to make this work. A few quick things about me: 1. I am 25 years old. 2. I was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome 10 years ago. 3. I absolutely love my job working on the phones/computer at a pet care department. I work long hours, but really like being able to help animals get the best care possible. Plus, we do lots of programs with shelters to help animals, and even have a hotline that people can call when they lose their pet for someone just to talk too. 4. I moved a 12 hour drive away from my family and friends last year when I got married, but I'm adjusting to my new life here and slowly starting to find my way around and make friends. 5. In 2 weeks, I will have been officially married a full year to a truly amazing man who always makes me feel beautiful, even when I don't think I am. 6. We plan on starting a family in the next few years, so that's really fueling my want to get healthy. I'm definitely excited to be here and think these forums are great. :) |
Welcome! I'm new too, just joined a few days ago actually, and I am so happy I did. There's a really great support system here at 3FC, and everyone makes you feel welcome even when we're all pretty much strangers.
Your job sounds great! What's your goal weight? What's your diet/exercise plan? I'm counting calories and exercising at my school gym. :) Starting a family sounds like a great motivator to get healthy. You'll want to be in tip top shape for chasing the young'ns around the backyard. How exciting! I'll see you around the forum I hope! |
I'm glad I joined, too! Working on trying to figure out what to do this time. I've done weight watchers before and it worked, but I can't really afford it right now. I'm thinking counting calories might work for me right now. Excercise can be hard due to my CFS, but I have to walk like, a full mile to get to my desk from my car in the morning and another mile in the afternoon. Plus, I take a walk on my lunch break since I've been sitting so long. On the weekends, my husband and I will play WII dance games or something to try to keep active. I'm going to start with that, and cutting calories. And ease into it!
What to you do? |
Welcome to 3FC =)
You aren't alone. There are plenty of people looking to get healthy for the long haul, and there's a lot of support and advice around. There's a 20-something's section, and there may be others in the Dieting with Obstacles area with chronic fatigue syndrome. Best of wishes, and hope to see you around the boards! |
Welcome! :-)
