Well, Hello!

I accidentally found this website while goofing around on the internet. I'm 21 years old, and have a good 50 extra pounds hanging around. I have an extremely difficult (an often emotional) relationship with food and generally have problems staying motivated to exercise (same old story...). I recently lost 15 pounds in January and then promptly gained it all back. I've tried what feels like 10,000 weight loss strategies, but nothing has lasted. I don't have many friends or family members that are overweight at all (my long-term boyfriend and all of my siblings have super-hero-esque metabolism), so I have virtually no support system currently. I'm hoping that being a member of this community will be something that sticks, gives me the support I need, and keeps me motivated! Looking forward to it!!

Hello :)

Hi, I am 21 as well and am trying to lose 50 pounds. I definately need to lose more than that, but 50 is my start. I feel like I have done everything, but seem to constently lose 20 gain it back with 5 more. Lose 40. Gain it back. what a horrible cycle! I am looking for a support system to hold me accountable which seems to be my problem. Any tips for that? What are you doing to keep yourself accountable and to start losing weight or contine that? I am excited to be a part of this site!

Welcome!

We have similar stories! I have found that this site has been an amazing source of support. I'd encourage you to join in on a challenge (there's a new 12-week challenge in the 20-somethings forum) because it will really motivate you to succeed by weighing in every week and staying accountable. I've noticed a big difference in my eating/exercising habits since joining. Hopefully it works for you too!!

:)

Welcome to 3FC =)

You aren't alone. Everyone here wants to lose some weight and get healthier.

A lot of the problems with those weight loss systems is they aren't sustainable for your life. The people here who have succeeding in keeping off weight and continuing is that they have a plan in mind that is a part of their lifestyle.

They've made changes to what they do that they are living with for the rest of their lives. They don't intend to ever go "off the diet". The changes are permanent.

That's why a lot of those crash diets and crazy schemes don't stick. People can only do them for a month and then they get burnt out and return to normal.

What works is changing our own versions of normal.

We also have to accept that there are going to be times we slip-up. We're human. There's no need to be "perfect" as we're learning to eat better and move more. There is however a need to get back on plan the second we realize we've slipped. No hesitation, no giving up.

You can do this. Everyone can. One change at a time. Build up. And always, always, always continue.
