Default Hi hi!

Hi all!

Here's my official introduction - I got excited and posted a few times already

Anyway,

I'm a theatre student from Southern California and I just turned 18 two days ago

My highest weight was 200 pounds. I'd been at 180 most of middle school, but in high school my weight seemed to jump up those 20 pounds before I knew it. Along with the weight gain, I had other symptoms, such as dizziness, and I finally came to the conclusion that I had insulin resistance. I started following a strict low-gi diet and lost 30 pounds.

I started weight watchers a month ago and have lost another 4 pounds, so now I'm at my mini-goal of being in the 160s!

I'm starting the dukan diet tomorrow, but I'm not sure if I'll stay on it as some people reported feeling bad and gaining the weight back. Health is really important to me, so that made me nervous, but I'm gonna try it because it also has many good reviews. If it doesn't work out I'm going to try a different low-carb diet; Since low-gi works so well for me I figure adding low carb will be even better.

This group seems awesome for support

Hello! Happy birthday and congrats on your weight loss so far! That's awesome! I've never heard of the dukan diet, i'll have to look that up. Good luck to you!

Thanks!

Dukan seems really similar to Atkins.

The dukan consists of four phases: the attack phase is only protein and one serving of oat bran a day and lasts 2-7 days; then it's the cruise phase which is alternating days of protein only and protein + veggies; the next phase is consolidation which you will be on until you reach your goal weight, it introduces carbs and fruit and one "celebration" meal a week; the last stage is stabilization which is for the rest of your life, it is staying within the rules of the consolidation phase, but taking one day a week to eat protein only.

Now I'm considering just doing Atkins instead since it is more balanced throughout.
