Newcomer - Excited to be here !
Hi everyone !
I stumbled across this forum and my first impression is...*drum roll*... What a find !! I went around the forums a bit and everyone seems to very supportive of each other, which is EXACTLY what I need, and there seems to be forums for just about each and every aspect of weight loss and the obstacles in our way. Anyhow, here's some info about me since I intend to join the support group! my name is Pat and I live in Quebec. I've never learned how to eat properly as a child and the weight has been packing on every since I was a kid. Fortunately, I am 6' tall, which distributes my weight better but in the end, I am still very, very obese. I work as a computer technician and spend most of my days sitting. I can easily end up eating in restaurants for each meal, everyday. As for exercise, I currently don't have a membership at a gym and I'm kind of a geek so I tend to stay in a lot. I walk my dog and that's about it. Obviously, there are many aspects of my life that needs to be revamped if I intend to lose weight and keep it up. My first step will be to join a gym and start cooking my own meals... Joining a gym will be easy, but cooking my meals will be the real challenge. I imagine that I will be spending most my time in the 300+ forums as I currently weigh 328 pounds and would like to go down to 220ish. Hopefully I'll have my own success thread up this time next year ! Looking forward to chatting with everyone, Pat |
Welcome to the forum, and best of luck to you. I've really appreciated being able to commiserate with the 'chicks' here about weight loss, and the sometimes infuriating stalls and gains. You'll find a lot of encouragement here!

IMO the cooking is very important because you can work out like a fiend but if you don't eat right the pounds won't move :)
Welcome and good luck! |
Best wishes! I'm new here, too - but I have found SO much helpful information already. I agree with beerab. Exercise is important, but food is maybe more critical to a lifestyle change. If you stick to a good eating plan, that alone will do enough to knock the pounds off and keep you motivated. :)
