Deciding on my goal

Hello everyone!

I am new here, but am still deciding on what I should set my goal weight as. I think I have a fear of setting the goal too low and being scared to not reach it, or setting the goal too high and not pushing myself enough.
That said, I think it is very important for me to have a goal, and some smaller goals to keep me going. I tend to overeat and binge, and have a history of some depression issues that keep me from always following through with exercise.
After browsing the forums, I believe this will be a good way for me to express my feelings and get support.

Now, to decide on a goal! :chin:

Welcome, I am new here as well! I always set myself a mid or mini goal and then an ultimate goal. That way I still work hard for that mini goal and when I reach it...I still will push myself to get to my ultimate goal. Good luck! :)

I am also an overeater and binger, and to me, getting rid of those habits is more important than a number on the scale. So instead of setting weight goals, i set goals for staying on my eating plan. Right now my goal is to stay within 2000 calories until May 1, and then reevaluate after that--perhaps take a cheat day then, or something. I try not to go too long-term because that stresses me out.

I also tend to overeat and binge, and have a history of depression with anxiety. I have learned from experience that the lowest weight I can get to with out being clinically underweight is 150. I find that I look much healthier with at least 10lbs over that, and I am reaching my 30's so super model status isn't as important to me as fitting all those size 12's in my closet is :) I've set my goal to where I will be comfortable. I like to have a "few extra" lbs on me.

A goal weight isn't so important, and it depends on your build. Ask your doctor if your desired weight is unrealistic, and where they think a healthy weight would be for you. Good luck on your journey!
