Need some motivation to go hungry sometimes

I got down to 152 in the summer and felt great. I went through some stressful things in the fall and found myself back up to 164 in the last month or two because of not sleeping and minimal overeating. Just about 200 extra calories a day over 6 months got me to where I am. I've started working out a lot again, but that never helps me lose weight, so I just need to get my eating on track again. Small portions are best for me!

Welcome and good luck ! You don't have to go hungry to lose weight. Do you have a diet and exercise plan ?

Hi there, just started reading posts and found that we have about the same goals and height etc. The most I've been (without begin pregnant that is) is about 172 but that was several years ago. I'm 167 now (but 1.5years ago I was about 152). What got you motivated? I just can't seem to get going-- i feel like I need to do something drastic as a wake up call. Thx for listening.

I find for me the best thing is to get used to going hungry sometimes. I love to workout, it's not an issue. I can work out every day, but I put on weight more like a man, so when I work out, I gain weight. The only way I've ever lost weight and kept it off was to realize it's okay to be a little hungry. Not starving or anything. But I just need to shed 200 calories a day. I also don't like to diet much, I can get obsessed. So I don't restrict foods, I just eat less.

Magby - my motivation was seeing myself in the mirror during Yoga yesterday and realizing how much that 12 lbs I gained made a difference in how I look. I think I looked sexy at 152 and I think I look a little chubby at 164. It's crazy how that can make such a difference.

Also, I completely disagree that you don't have to go hungry. People say that to make it sound easier, but it's not easy. You're shedding pounds. If you were never hungry, you wouldn't lose weight. If it's 10 or 11 pm and you feel hunger coming, you go hungry til morning. If you're eating and you've had what you know to be enough, then you have to go a little hungry until your body recognizes all the food you have eaten.

I don't know if I really know what it feels to be hungry. I've eaten to eat for so long that even when I know I can't possibly be hungry I have hunger pangs. Anyone else feel that way?
