Hello, all!

Hi everyone!

So I guess I can start with a little about myself. Since the age of 12 or so, I've always been a little heavy. I was probably 2-3 sizes bigger, always, than most girls my age in comparable height ranges. In high school, I put on a little more. By my senior year, I was 175-180. (I'm 5'6 by the way). Although, at that time, I felt huge and gross, I have gotten even bigger. My first three years of college I was around 190. Last year, last summer actually, I finally went over the 200 mark. I was devastated.

OBVIOUSLY I was not devastated enough to actually do anything about it, as it is now 6 months later and I weight 223. This is the most I have ever weighed, and it is quite depressing. It's just been inching up and up and up, and with stress and over-eating and all the usual suspects, I've finally decided to put a stop to it. I have two semesters of college left and I want to look good in my graduation gown!!

I'm a habitual "dieter." I'm sure you all know the type. I start a new diet every monday morning, only to be off of it by Monday at lunch when I get a craving for pasta.

However, this time, I've been doing well. I started on New Years Day. I've been using a calorie counter app on my iPhone (Lose It, which seems great so far!) And actually logging what I eat has been the biggest motivator. I realized that I don't actually need very many calories as long as I use them wisely.

Anyways, I'm afraid that if I don't do something, I'll be up to 250 by this time next year. Health problems, which run in my family, are a constant fear. I'm hoping to find the support and advice that I need to maintain a healthier lifestyle. Thanks in advance!
Best wishes to all,
C

Edited to add: I've actually lost 3 pounds since Jan 1, but forgot to add that part because that could be fluctuation from my (admitedly fallible) scale.
