Feeling the "Newlywed Spread" already. :-P

Good morning all!
Brand new here, so I just thought I'd introduce myself. :-) I'm a 23-year-old newlywed. I'm trying to drop from my current weight of 180 lbs to a more reasonable 130. My first goal is just to get to 169. My biggest challenge right now is busting out of a plateau. I can't seem to drop below 177 lbs.

I look forward to getting to know everyone here!

Hey Penny :) I am new too. I got married in June and became very comfortable once I realized there was "nothing to diet for". I hope we can support each other and succeed with great results!

Hi Penny! I'm new to the forum as well. Although I'm not a newlywed I've been w/ my boyfriend now for about 4-5 years. I'm here to support ya'! As long as you'll be there for me, lol! What's your plan of action? Good luck!

Hi Penny, I know what you mean about the 'newlywed spread' It didn't happen right away for me but I am 30lbs heavier now than I was. Same thing happened to my husband. Now I am drawing the line! Good luck!

Hey Penny! I'll be 23 soon and I've been married for two years and a half. I gained almost 30lbs in the matter of three months when we first started dating (we got married later that same year). It was a combination of his eating habits and quitting smoking. He ate taco bell practically on a daily basis, and naturally when we got together I did the same :nono: so what's your game plan? We have very similar weight loss goals. I'm tired of diets that limit any food group... they're too hard and I always gain the weight back. I am just going to be sensible this time and limit my calorie intake along with eliminating refined sugar, and eating only whole grain carbs from now on. And I'll be doing some Jillian Michaels dvds, they're the only ones that don't bore me to death. I also appreciate the fact that she doesn't smile the whole workout, for some reason I find that extremely annoying (i.e. Denise Austin):frypan:

When I first got married, a few friends warned me I could gain a lot of weight the first year because I would be cooking meals daily. And my new husband might want some very unhealthy foods I never eat.
So I was careful to buy just healthy foods.

When you do grocery shopping, do not buy snacks, ice cream, sodas and processed foods.
Before you step into the grocery line, go through your cart and remove anything that is too high in calories.

If your husband wants ice cream, fast foods, and sodas, let him pick them up for himself.

Don't get carried away by someone else's poor food choices. Refuse to add junk to your diet. Don't let anyone dictate your diet. Keep counting your calories daily. You'll be O.K.
:)
