Hi friends,

Does anyone have any advice on social phobia at the gym? I want to try and get into a regular exercise routine, but in the past few days I've felt SO uncomfortable because everyone's been lapping me on the indoor track and I feel even fatter... today I didn't go at all. I think I'm going to try and wake up early tomorrow and go, but it's just most convenient to go around 5 or 6, when it's unfortunately the most crowded...

Also, do you weigh yourselves each day? Or each week? I feel like I've gained weight (boo), so I don't know if I should wait once a week so I'm not obsessing over the fact that I'm not losing a pound a day or more...

Thanks for the help and support!

I try to think that I'm at the gym for myself and no one else. I don't bother with what other ppl are doing or look like. Also, you never know if the people passing you on the track were once where you are at. It could be encouraging to them seeing someone start out on their journey and encouraging to you to see where you are headed on yours. If you can't change the time you go, ask God or your High Power (if you believe in that) to give you guidance and support at the gym. Put out a good vibe while there is it will def be returned.

I was trying to weigh myself on Fridays. I've been hopping on more than I should and getting frustrated seeing the same weight. It is really what is most comfortable for you. Mentally I think 1-2 times a week. We can fluctuate a lot in a day, so that is not always a fair assessment.
