Hi from Ohio!!!

  • Hi, I'm new to TFC's!!!! I have had probelms with weight ever since I was about 10 years old. I've been very body contious (thanks to my mother and her pushing) and that ultimatley lead me to having anorexia by the time I was 14 years old (and believe it or not, at that point she never knew and she told me that i looked great) which caused me to look gray and my cheeks were sucken in, but I was saved by my best friend Lacy and even since then I have had body issues. So, now being 24 years old and married to my knight in shining armor for 3 1/2 years I decided to take action. So on May 30, 2010 I made a huge change in my life. I decided to become a vegetarian and before that in the middle of February 2010 (for lent) I gave up soda of all kinds. So, it's been 6 months with no meat of any kind (soon i'm thinking of cutting back on the dairy) and it's been 9 months with no soda, which in the beginning was really hard for me because i was drinking basically a 2 liter of pop a day.....that's really sad if you think about it.

Then, i started working out more and taking advantage of my college's workout center, it's massive and there is so much to do! so, i workout 1-2 times a day (depending upon how busy i am) 3-4 days a week for 45 minutes (up from 30 mins) each day. so, the weight is coming off, and i'm starting to feel happier about myself now then i ever did when i was a teenager. so, i can't wait to reach my goal and feel the overwhelming joy for reaching my accomplishment, because then i'll know what it feels like to feel confidence and truly love myself. Can't wait!

I can't wait to meet you all and relish in your stories and goals along with way with you!! This place is so wonderful!!

  • Welcome Shelly! I gave up pop for Lent this year too, and I sure am glad I did, because it really helped with the weight loss. Good job on your loss so far, hope to see you around! Come join us in the 20-somethings forum
