Default Any other 40-somethings trying to lose 30 pounds?

Hey there, I'm new here. I've been looking for some motivation to get my health and weight going in the right direction again, and I think I found it here!

I'm 47 years old and weigh 181 pounds. My goal is 151....30 pounds in the next 6 months. I've joined a gym this week and am tracking my nutrition at a free site called Sparkpeople.com. Today I had my fitness assessment at the gym so I also have goals related to bodyfat percentage and "body age" (whatever the heck that is).

Well, I look forward to reading lots of success stories on here! It seems like some of the folks on this site have done really well, so I hope you all can keep me focused and that I can do the same for you!

Have a great day!

Today is my first day here. I am 48 and I snuck up past the unthinkable, I topped 200! I think the highest I got was 203, so I used that as my starting weight. Today on a scale at our local clinic I weighed in at 200.

A few years ago, when I weighed about 185, I was sitting across a restaurant table with my boyfriend at the time and he leaned over and with a twinkle in his eye said, "Race you to 200!" I just saw a recent picture of him on the internet. Looks like I "won." Dang!

Oh, well. No time like the present!

I think this site is going to be fun, better than any commercial diet site where you have to pay $5 per week.
