Need support and encouragement!!

Good Afternoon!

I love reading everything everyone writes on here, you are all so inspirational.

I am 27 years old and have had issues with my weight for over half of my life.... I weighed more than 240 lbs (at least) at one point and got down to around 180 (maybe less)... I'm 5'8 so that weight suited me pretty well, but I wasn't satisfied.

I started to get my Masters and got into a really bad relationship where I put myself last, so now after gaining 30lbs from that and then another 10 more for finally being in a great (we really enjoy each other and food :) ) I am back to 220, and while completely happy with my boyfriend, am 100% miserable with how i look and feel. I have told him that if he keeps telling me i am perfect that i will think he's a liar :( I want so desperately to loose this weight. I love LOVE working out, and that is not the problem, I work out at least 4 days a week now... the problem is that my eating is OUT OF CONTROL, and I am so bogged down and overwhelmed with all I want to lose that ( 50 lbs for now) that I can't really see my way out of this... I give up on eating healthy because I do not see results and then just continue to gain weight...

Today is a new day though...I am aware of what I do and what my limitations are, and I know I need to take it one day, actually one meal, at a time, and know that all these healthy decisions if I stick with them will give me results eventually....

November 1st (a little less than 6 months until my best friends wedding May 29th) and I am going to make this work this time! No ifs and or buts.

I am going to start following a healthy diet of mainly fruits and vegetables, chicken, fish, salad, yogurt, whole grains (rice/quinoa/ oatmeal) and cut out alcohol (ok maybe not on christmas and new years)

My first mini goal is to be down to 200 by Dec 23 ( a lofty goal I know)... My grandma will be home and its been a year since I've seen her, I weighed about 212 last year, so to be at 200 would be awesome!!

I look forward to reading everyones stories and using all of your successes as a way to keep myself on track...

Thanks for reading...

Steph ;)

hey steph, my name is stephanie also! lol

but anyway i've gone 4 days giving up soda and fast food. i mean i'm OBSESSED with fast food and all that. i've grown up drinking a coke in the morning and wendys for dinner ever since i was little...pretty sad. but anywho i'm doing pretty good on my "diet".. it's just the working out that is a problem for me. i would rather just sit on the couch, and when i try to work out i become a wimp and want to give up. :( oh wellll. i think we can do it though! reading this forum really helps with my motivation. good luck on your goals :)

Hi Steph-Just want to say it sounds like you have a verrry good guy now! He loves you as you are. Don't call him a liar. Thank him and maybe ask for his help. If you clean up your diet together it will be easier.

Hi Steph,
Welcome. I can certainly relate to the out of control eating. I first started making healthy choices and eliminating my sugar addiction, which I can now see made me crave food and overeat terribly. I also eliminated my numerous diet soft drinks per day. My mood and thinking is so much clearer, energy more and I no longer crave food. For myself I have lost about 38 lbs or so, so far with hopefully fifty to go. I eventually eliminated most fruits except berries to finally end the craving. I eat lots of protein, vegetables, whole grains and healthy fats. I have increased my water intake greatly and have green tea in the AM only so I can sleep at night. I'm working out forn the first time in over 12 years. I hope you feel the encouragent and stick with it.
