Hello. :)

Hi, I'm 18, and joined this forum after much thought. This is the first weight loss forum I have ever joined. I hope to be an active and supportive member, and share what I have learnt along the way! :)

My story: My weight has yo-yoed ever since I was born. My twin brother took up a LOT of space in the womb and practically left me starving and dying (I still love him:hug:). They didn't even know I had existed until the last minute. :) I was frail and mostly weak as a small child and practically had to be force-fed. My appetite then grew tremendously and I remember asking for third helpings at meal times when I was around 9 or 10 years old. I became very overweight in my early teens. I remember stepping on a scale when I was twelve and looking down and seeing "62 kilos". Fast forward a few years, I slimmed down after months of exercising and dieting. And while I have never become the weight I had been when I was twelve, my weight had become a tragic cycle ever since. I'm sure you know what I'm talking about.

I hope that by being here, I achieve more than just lose weight. I think I'm also in search of happiness and positivity. In a few months, I'll be off to university. Hopefully I'll be able to have the best time of my life. :D

Thanks for reading!

Hey molldoll, you've got a lovely name yourself! Glad to hear about your start, hope you're first week's been fantastic. :) I'm loving the forum so far, getting a little excited. ;)

good luck to you!
I hate saying good luck, sounds like setting you up for failure. I know its weird. Anyway.
I can relate to being force fed! I was a 8 week preemie, came home at 4.5 lbs! My mom used to have to feed me thin infant cereal just to get weight on me. And it continued until I was well into my elementary years. By that time, she decided that I was fat and started the diets HEH. Gee thanks mom, wonder why I have issues!

But as a mom to a girl your age, I can tell you, remember no matter what you are beautiful, and do not let ANYONE dictate what you should look like other than yourself! If you feel good in YOUR skin, that is what is important

:)

With that said, I will climb off my mombox and say....you will find a ton of support here. I have only been a member for a short time and already I am addicted to these people HAHA

Aww, thanks so much for your reply, lazylioness! and LOL at your mom, although mine is indifferent to my weight fluctuations/weight loss attempts, for better or worse.
I can see that you've only been here a month, and happy to see that you're already at home! Hope I get addicted too. :)

lazylioness 10-19-2010 03:59 PM

I am sure that you will.
Before I came here, it honestly NEVER entered my head that there were SO many people with weight issues. Especially not as many with as much weight as I need to lose. I was very happy to say the least. It made me realize that regardless if we have 200 lbs to lose, or 10 lbs to lose, everyone here feels exactly the same about the pounds they need to lose. The number is just a number, makes no difference what that number is, the difference comes with how we feel about ourselves and in turn those around us.
