Cutting the YoYo strings

  • So, I actually started on the site yesterday and introduced myself to the 300+ crowd. But wanted to post in here too.

I am 35 going on, oh about 27. I have been overweight for pretty much my entire life. My previous attempts have all been to "diet", and quite frankly it does not work for me, so I am changing my life instead. So I am cutting out the fast food (because do any of us really need that fat any faster?) and soda, and hoping to bring my blood pressure back under control before I give my doctor an apoplexy.

Day One went amazing and I love this site. I even started a blog! I woke up this morning excited and energized. I just need to make sure I maintain and don't go back to old habits as soon as I get stressed or bored. (My 2 biggest eating triggers.)

Ya'll seem to be a great bunch of chicks and I am so glad I found this site!
  • Hi and welcome - You and I have more than one thing in common. I'm 35 going on 26-27ish too . I've also been overweight my entire life, with some time in between where I was able to lose weight but have never been able to maintain because I'm an emotional eater and gain it all back when I'm depressed/stressed/anxious etc....well you get the picture.

Anyhow - welcome and this is a great site for support!

We're so glad you found us
Read your blog from yesterday. That's part of the reason I LOVE this site myself. It's because the people here are so real. And we all struggle, but more importantly, we are here to help each other. We celebrate when you acheive, and pick you up and dust you off when you fall. (I recently got a "dusting off" myself )
Anyways, you'll find some AWESOME inspiration, motivation, advice, and encouragement here.
Hugs and support on your weight loss journey

  • Welcome to 3FC, we are glad you are here!
  • I am also 35... some days I feel 80... but most days I feel 21 trapped inside an old fat lady's body HA!

I have always been a little more "healthy" than others growing up... but then the instant I got married 15 years ago, I think I gained 100 pounds overnight! I have struggled my entire life. Even when I was at a more normal weight, my mind told me I was obese and disgusting.

In my 35 years, I can't say that I have ever been happy with my body after puberty.

I have goals in numbers, but normalcy ... is my ultimate goal. I just want to feel normal, and be happy inside my own skin.

I wish all the best for you. I think this site is an awesome tool for all of us to have someone to lean on that has been there... the support just isn't the same coming from a skinny person.
  • Hi and welcome! Glad to have you here and good luck with your goals!
