Ready for a new me!
It seems like I’ve struggled with my weight for most of my life. I recently read that 31 is supposed to be the sexiest year for a woman, and that has not been true for me. Considering that I still have a lot of years ahead of me, I’m working towards being and feeling sexy again!
Over the last 8 years, my thyroid has played an important and frustrating role in my weight. Working with my doctor, we were able to get things under control and I started to lose weight. I lost about 15 pounds and then was able to maintain it. While not near my ideal weight, it was a start. Then, the fillers in my thyroid medication were changed and I started to feel the effects of my hypothyroidism, including a weight gain of 15 pounds. While working with my doctor to fix things, I gained 4 more pounds. To further complicate things, I injured my foot while on the elliptical machine. My doctor gave me the order to stay off my foot as much as possible, which includes working out. It could take until the end of November before I am fully healed, though I have now been given the go-ahead to ride a bike as long as I use the arch of my foot instead of the ball or toe. I’ve been able to do that for the last 2 days, and while I am not an exercise lover, it has felt good to get moving again! I woke up this morning and though I dreaded it, I figured it was time to find out what my weight was. 206.2 AARGH!!!! My goal is 160, and I am using an app on my iPhone to help track my calories. According to that, if I am able to lose 2 lbs. a week, I will reach my goal by March 11, just 2 weeks after my 32nd birthday. So, 32 will be my sexiest year! I understand that there are setbacks (Christmas, anyone?!), but I can do this! I know that I do best when I have support, so that is why I have come to this site. I look forward to sharing this journey with all of you and helping each other along the road to healthy! |
