19 year-old newbie.
Well, I'll start off by saying that I'm fat and I don't want to be anymore.
I've thought about this for a very long while and have decided that it is time to do something about it. I found this website on another forum that I frequent and thought I'd give it a try. I'm a 19 year-old student trying to get into nursing school; I'm a sophomore and a transfer student (just changed my major from Acting and Directing this semester). I'm currently 220 pounds; I hate myself and the way I look. That's really, really hard to say. But, it needs to be said to start this journey; it's a self-actualization that I need to face in order to be successful in reaching my goal to be 150 pounds. This sounds impossible. I know there will be tears, I know that I will fall off the wagon, and I know that I want to be strong through this -- I hope that I will find a support system here. Thanks for reading, Redhead Sarah |
Welcome, glad to have you join us. I suggest you look for a Support Group or Challenge to join; a small group of friends to help keep you motivated, find one that inspires you or fits your needs, and just post to join.

Welcome Sarah to 3FC! I've just gotten into this community myself, and I'm around your age group =) There is a lot going on here, as I've seen in the first couple days, a LOT of challenges to choose from! I suggest just hoppin on board, and also to get a blog to track your goals, trials, and exercise/meal plans, it can be very helpful!
If you ever need a friend in all of this drop me a line =D I'm looking for new friends to support and talk with! ^_^ Good luck on your weight loss journey! We will love our changing selves soon! |
Hi and welcome to 3FC.
Good luck with your goals. Hugs Michelle |
Hi Sarah :) I just joined here, you sound so similar to me and what I'm dealing with now :) Just wanted to encourage you and wish you good luck! We can do it!

Thanks for the warm welcome, ladies!
I've just got a few questions: 1. Where can I start a blog as suggested? 2. Should I just keep a journal of what I eat? 3. Challenges! What are these? |
1. Blogs can be made here - http://www.3fatchicks.com/diet-blogs/
2. I keep track of my calories and exercise at sparkpeople.com for FREE. 3. If you check out the different forums here, you will find various challenges to join up with if you choose. |
Welcome Sarah!
Knowing that it's time to change is a great step toward losing that unwanted fat! If you read around the boards you can get some great ideas to what others have done to lose weight and stick with their plans. And if you fall off, they are there to lend an understanding ear! Hope to see you around! |
Hi!
Hi Sarah!
I just joined today. I am a nursing student, so if you have any question, feel free to ask. I can totally understand how you feel. My only suggestion is not to hate yourself. Turn that hate into love, because when you love something you want to take care of it and nurture it so it can succeed. I know that it can be a hard process, but you can do it! Believe in yourself and you will succeed. Sounds cheesy, I know, but it's totally true. As soon as I started to love myself and believe in myself, the weight just started melting off. I wish you the best of luck in your journey! Sara |
