Hi! :)
Hi everyone! My name is Jessica and I just joined this site. I've been browsing the past few days and have finally decided to join in on the conversations! A little about me: I'm 22, graduated from college, jobless, with nothing to do all day but work on my resume and cover letters, in desperate need of goals and constructive things to do. What led me into my 'weight loss journey' was c25k. When I heard about c25k, I figured why not? It will give me something to do, something to work toward, and it will be good for my body. I've done a week of it already, and now I'm starting to look into making eating right and actually losing weight a goal too. Which is how I found this forum :).
Last time I weighed myself I was 165 (say mid- August-ish). I've been the same weight since my senior year of high school, and now is the time to finally get down to a healthy weight! I'm only 5'2" so 165 puts me in the 'obese' range unfortunately. I really don't want to make this about the weight though. I want to make it more about the way I feel, about the goals I'm achieving while running and eating right ... and the weight loss will be just an added perk to my lifestyle change. So, on purpose I am not weighing myself until October 1st. I know that the first few weeks running I am likely to put on muscle weight and won't lose very much if any at all... so instead of constantly weighing myself and being disappointed... I just won't. I'm planning on eventually weighing myself weekly at some point, but not until the lifestyle change is more of a habit. If I get disappointed that I gained weight then I'm more likely to give up, so I really need to stay away from the scale and keep it off my mind. =) Jessica |
First of all, welcome =D Nice to meet you Jessica! I like your goals and you're right, it should be able feeling good about yourself and being happy, healthy, and energized. Life shouldn't be all about panting up the stairs...and across short distances! (speaking from a me perspective here XD)
