I need help

Hello lovely ladies!

I have joined this forum in an attempt to get some new, healthy dieting buds!

I have for 10 years struggled with bulimia/anorexia. This has lead me to become obese, because my metabolism is very run down and confused.

In an attempt to start a new healthier life I will need to lose weight, but my doctors are scared to talk about the subject because of my condition. Therefore I have turned to you. I have for years frequented sites where I've gotten alot of tips on how to lose weight - none of them have been healthy and safe. I know I will need to be healthy to fight the battle in my head, and I also know I need to lose weight. And you're probably thinking "Oh, but you have bulimia, you will never be satisfied". Well, maybe not, but at the moment my weight is at 220, and my height is 5'5. Anyone, eating disorder or not, knows that this isn't healthy either.

I hope you can offer me insight into a healthier dietroutine, and also offer support. I will do my best to do the same in return.

Hugs
Fam

Welcome to 3FC. I really think you came to the right place. This place ois open to any healthy way of losing weight and there are discussion areas for different diets we're on and challenges we all face. You might want to check out the "Dieting with Obstacles" to find others facing the same sort of challenges you are.

Our bodies have an absolutely amazing ability to recover from the abuse we inflict on them and to heal. You can overcome your eating disorders and you can lose weight and be healthy! Good luck to you!

Welcome! Is 99lbs really your goal? I would suggest before you start any weight loss plan you learn what it means to be at a healthy weight. I usually never comment on others goals, but at your height 99 lbs is seriously under weight. Once you come to terms that at 5'-5" your healthy weight range is 118-150, then you can start to determine what a healthy eating plan for you would be. I usually always suggest calorie counting, but I'm not sure that wouldn't feed your disorder. Hopefully others will have some good suggestions in this department.

Thank you both for your welcomes.

ncuneo; At the point where I'm at now I need to maintain a certain control. I am still very much "eating disordered", and thus, I have set a goal that will probably for most seem unreal. I need to have some part of my disease with me, to motivate me to do this properly. It may seem strange, but there you are. I am in intensive therapy, and maybe my goal will change as I progress, but at the moment it is crucial for me to have this small part of it with me, to be able to move forward safely.

Thank you for your concern though, it shows me I have indeed chosen the right place. And I hope it cleared things up a bit.

Hi and welcome to 3FC.

I have never had to deal with the issues you are so I can offer no real advice but wanted to give my support and a big . I truly hope you can find a place inside where you will be able to get to a healthy weight and be happy.

Good luck with your goals.

Hugs
Michelle

Then I think you may want to look at calorie counting. If you need control, you will get it. I'm a control freak, and sometimes I go over board, but as I move along I learn how to find balance. But please start out at a high calorie range, this will get your metabolism back on track. Check out freedieting.com for a good calorie range to start at, don't use the extreme fat loss column, use the fat loss. Start there give a good month or two just to get the feel for it and go from there. Good luck to you!

I think it is incredible that I stumbled upon this site, and decided to join... because we are in very similar situations.

I have been living with bulimia for nearly 10 years, although in the past 1.5-2 years I have shifted my habits to only binges. As a result I've gained a lot of weight in that time.

I know it needs to change... thankfully I have just moved to a new (larger) city and can access resources here. I am hoping that this site will be helpful too. I am not just dealing with an eating disorder, with my psychological problems -- I also need to bring my body back to life! I want to be healthy, I want to feel good about myself.

Thanks for sharing, and for letting me know that I'm not alone!
