New Here & Feeling Down

Hey everyone,

Just a little about myself:

I'm a 28yr old female who has struggled with her weight for the past 6 years. The weight gain happened so fast (or so it feels). One day I was a size 10 and now I'm a size 20.

I remember how great it felt being thin. Buying cute outfits to show off my figure (even then I was self conscious of my weight). Most of all, I remember all the energy I had, the motivation.

I don't feel my age at all. My feet hurt all the time...back aches. I even feel as though others don't respect me as much now that I'm "fat", lol.

I do have a fiancee that treats me great. He doesn't have a weight problem but loves to eat. Perhaps this has contributed to some degree. I feel "safe" and trapped. I try to diet and it always go back to eating unhealthy. I even have a gym membership I never use.

I just want this weight off...I'm a binge eater, no doubt. I love sweats and feel as though I drowned my emotions in food.

I would love to meet everyone and am in desperate need of advice. I would also like to offer as much advise as I can.

Thanks to all who have taken the time to listen. :)

I know how you feel 100%. I was an athlete in school and was always in shape and felt good. The weight came on like gangbusters when my activity level slowed but my food intake never went down. I've been overweight for awhile. On diets off diets. A roller coaster.

I know how you feel when you say others don't respect you because of the "fat". Its almost like our invisable. How do you feel when you see a person that is too heavy?

I've started a diet that has been removing the pounds quickly. The slow progress of other diets just doesn't work for me. I have to see progress and see it quickly. I'm doing the HMR-800 medically supervised shake fast program. I've lost 16 lbs in 3 weeks. If I stay on track I will be my goal weight in 4 months. BUT, there is a lot of learning to do in the program. Weekly meetings with a DR, nutritionist, and a nurse. You MUST find out why you are eating the way you are. It is one thing to lose the weight another to fix whatever is going on psychologically that is causing you to eat. You have a pain somewhere....we as women tend to eat our pain. You have to find out what that pain is or you may lose the weight but never keep it off.

Its your journey. I love that saying. I'm on MY journey. You can have your journey. It starts by taking the first step. Research a bunch of different types of diet plans. There are so many and you can find one that will work for you. Just remember that no matter how many potato chips you eat, or trip to McDonalds it will not make you feel better. Its huring your body. Love yourself. You deserve to feel good. Its time to go on your own journey!!! You can do it!

I've been blogging about my progress and decisions to do the HMR-800 diet. If you want to follow along with my progress, see my struggles and self-discovery visit fatmeltchallenge.blogspot.com

If I can help you in any way please don't hesitate to reach out. We all need support!

Hi DaytoNite! Welcome!

I'm new to these boards too. I can really relate to what you're saying. I could eat whatever I wanted without weight gain up until I was about 25 years old. Then I went up from a size 9 to a 14 in about 6 months. It was like mother nature flipped the off switch on my metabolism!

You sound very down and I would encourage you to fish around the site for things that inspire you. I visit the goal board regularly to remind myself that it IS possible. Find a plan that suits you and make small steps toward permanent lifestyle changes that work for you. The first step is to BELIEVE it's possible for you! It's your body, you're in charge.

I look forward to seeing you around the boards.

Hi, I'm a newbie too.

I'm not sure I have any words of encouragement except that you are not alone. I'm trying to be kind on myself and not come down so hard when I "mess up". I've been learning a lot about sugar addiction and have been applying the advice to eat more protein, its seems to help a little with the cravings... a LITTLE....

You are not alone!

hi! i'm new here too!

i'm a major emotional binge eater. i'll stick to a healthy diet for like a week and then something will happen and all i want to do is say 'screw my diet!' and indulge in comfort foods and sweets. i feel your pain! it's hard! i don't have any answers but if i have anything helpful to share as i go through my own weight loss i'll be sure to pass them along!

:wel3fc: There is alot of information in these forums. If you decide to use your gym membership, ease back into exercise. I belong to a gym and don't go as much as I should. But it's a good stress reliever and helps with weight loss.
