hello, I am new here. Have already lost 28 pounds on a low carb diet but got sick of chicken and lettuce... so I started nutrisystem (so far...yuck!) three days ago. I plan on doing it for at least 5 weeks (the amount of food I already have) and hoping to lose another 10-15 pounds before hip replacment surgery.

I am 58 years old, married with five boys (well two men and three boys!) ages 34,23,16,13,11. We have two grandkids age 6 years and 8 mos.

Hello and welcome to the site!!! :) I've heard the Nutrisystem food tastes like cardboard...is it true??? LOL

If you're looking for another diet to try I highly recommend the South Beach Diet. :) I've lost 61 pounds so far.

Someone asked if the nutrisystem food tastes like cardboard. I doesn't. Thoug some of the food has the texture of cardboard abnd soom has the testure of barkdust. My proble is thatwhen it is BAD, it mostly tastes like dish soap!

It's the "cup of soup" meals, the one's that you add water too taste the worse., two of the three I made so far really taseded like soap. I don't know why. The breakfast and snack stuff is OK but dull. Dinners have lots o sauce. I throw what ever it is over 2 cups of cooked veggies and season it. It's edible but definatly not "cuisine". The breakfast and snack stuff is OK but oddly dry.

I purchased the food (42 pounds of it!) on EBay. I got 5 weeks and some extra for $155.00 including shipping.

I think I can plug away at it for a month. And even if I don't repeat the stuff I didn't like the first time I will still get 4+ weeks for $35.00 a week plus the $20.00 I spent on veggies and a 1/2 gal of milk it was a pretty good deal.

The surgery will be abut then and I will probably go back on a high protein thing as soon as I get back from the hopspital.
