another day another diet

Hey everyone!! Another newbie to the site here. My sister is on here so i thought i'd give it a whirl. I've been on a diet since... i learned what they were. Even when i didn 't need to be, i was cutting calories which turned to starving myself. I eventually realized that what i was doing was very unhealthy and i stopped. But i had no idea how to maintain my weight the right way, and gained about thirty-five pounds more than i need.

So here i am, trying my hardest to stick to a healthy diet and exercise regiment... and it is difficult!! I've managed to get twenty pounds off over about three to four months, i just have ten to go. But wouldn't you KNOW that my stubborn body is at some sort of standstill and i can't seem to get under 140? It's infuriating!! So i'm looking for help and encouragement because i am feeling so disgruntled over it all i haven't gone to the gym all week. And i'm pretty sure that's counterproductive.

Hi and welcome to the forums

Congrats on losing weight the healthy way. I'm so glad that you snapped out of the unhealthy diets and weight loss methods. I hope you can find a happy medium where you can lose weight and keep it off the healthy way with regular exercise and a healthy, balanced diet.

I'm also doing it the slow way with regular exercise and a healthy, calories balanced diet. We just have to stick to our goals. I have a calender page that I've got from the shape mag. On it I write in pen the exercise I want to do each day and I then high-light the exercises that I've actually done. And at the end of the week when I've done all my exercises I reward myself. That really motivates me and it's a great way to make sure that I get all my exercise in. I also keep a food dairy and it helps me to eat healthy. I now think twice about eating something unhealthy, because I know I have to write it down.

Hello. Know exactly what you mean. I'm getting to grips with my weight and using a different mind set to the usual one. I'm not setting unrealistic goals, just getting 10lbs off at a time and not looking any further. I'm accepting that I'm going to cheat now and agian, putting it in the loop and moving on. I'm not on a rigid spartan diet hoping to ose pounds and pounds in a week. I'm aiming at an average of 2lbs a week and not leaping on the scales umpteen times a day.
