Shy newbie here!

Hi, I'm Morgan! I'm from the East Coast of the US. :)

I'm 25 and have been overweight most of my life. When I went to college my weight got especially bad, and by graduation I was 224 lbs (and I'm only 5'1"). And horrible food and spent most of my time at home. I was very sad. :(

Then last year I went to a weight loss program at my local gym. It was three months long, and we got to try different exercise classes, got two sessions with a personal trainer, and two sessions with a nutritionist. Everyone in it was overweight so I felt less self conscious because they all knew what I was going through. I thought I would back slide after the program ended, but It's been over a year and I still go to the gym regularly and have been working with a trainer who I love. I also changed my eating habits. I used to eat mostly processed food, red meat, and junk food, and now I cook a lot of my own food, eat lots of fruits (gotta work on veggies more), and stick to mostly chicken and fish for my meats. I've tried diets before, but I couldn't stay on them for very long, so I tried to focus on eating healthy, whole foods instead. Now I can't imagine eating half of the garbage I used to love, and I feel amazing. I still have a long way to go though!

I started at 224 lbs, and I currently weigh 178, and I went from a size 24 to 14 (I bought new shorts this weekend and discovered the 14 fit me perfectly! I was so excited!). At first it was easy to shed the lbs (I was losing 1-2 a week), but now it's gotten incredibly hard and I'm getting discouraged. I've been plateaued at about 180-178 for a really long time, and I was getting really frustrated! I think I might have broken the plateau when I went on vacation, but I'll have to wait and see. Hopefully I will find some helpful tips on here! :)

Welcome. Since Chicks can be overwhelming at first, I suggest you look for a support group or challenge to join; a small group of friends to help keep you motivated. Find one you like that fits your needs, or inspires you, and just post to join.
