slim for the summer

Hi everyone!

I just wanted to introduce myself! My name is Claire, i'm 24 and I'm from London.

Tomorrow I am starting a new healthy eating & exercise plan to lose a few pounds before the summer. I've been looking for a weight loss support forum for ages, and stumbled across this one today...

I am 5'8 (172cm roughly) and weigh 70kg, which I realise is in the normal range. I only want to lose about 5kg (roughly). The figure on the scales is not as important to me as feeling comfortable with my weight, which I kind of am / kind of am not at the moment.

I'd like to tone my stomach, bum and thighs and I love doing exercise - I run 10k about 3 x a week and love swimming in the summer. However, I know that I can tone my muscles all I like but if my diet continues to be as sugar loaded and out of control then I will never lose weight.

At the moment, I basically eat what I want and control my weight through exercise. My new idea is to tweak my diet so I can shift the fat to see the effects of the exercise. So, as of tomorrow I am:

1. Cutting all obvious sugars out of my diet (except for a small bar (25g) of dark chocolate a day

2. Cut down on the carbs after midday. Because it's so hot (I don't live in London anymore, haha!) at the moment, I think it'd be OK just to eat salad + some kind of protein for dinner.

3. Do interval training 3 x a week and ride my bike or swim if I feel like more exercise.

If anyone has any advice or similar goals, I'm all ears (and open for a diet buddy thing :-) )

Claire

Welcome. Since Chicks can be overwhelming at first, I suggest you look for a support group or challenge to join; a small group of friends to help keep you motivated. Find one you like that fits your needs, or inspires you, and just post to join.
