Just Saying Hello

  • I'm new around here-sort of. I actually joined in 2006 from what my profile says but I have never taken part until now.

I've always been overweight. I was dx with PCOS at the age of 14 and throughout the last 20 years I have done a lot of things to lose weight-some good, some not so good. For the past decade my focus was on fertility and with a lot of hard work and a great doctor we had three children in just over 3 years.

One day I woke up when my youngest was about 4 and I weighed 305 pounds. i was shocked-mortified. I did nothing about it.

one year later I stepped on the scale again and I was 310 pounds.

That was in August of 2009. Since then I have walked for 1h 3x a week with my dogs and have really focused on being more active. i have lost 20pounds and now sit at 290-but it has taken me me almost a year.

Recently i was gifted a used treadmill and am now trying to realize my lifelong goal of becoming a runner. I started C25k last week and am now on W2D2. It is the hardest thing I think i have ever done exercise wise both mentally and physically.

So you'll be seeing a lot of me around these boards. I look forward to meeting you all!

    ~Nancy

  • Congrats on your 20 pound weight loss! Keep up the good work!
  • Hi! I LOVE running too, but I just get so lazy sometimes. I entered a marathon last summer, didn't train properly, but made it halfway. I couldn't walk for days though! I am just starting a walk/jog program I found, mostly to ease myself into it so I don't irritate an old foot injury. I hope we're both running marathons sometime in the future. For me, it will definitely be June 2011. Over a year to lose the extra weight and train should be enough time. Keep posting your running progress should you decide you want to continue with it.
