New and looking for support

Hello there,
My name is Alicia and I am a 30 yr old single mom of 2.
I have been looking around and this seems like a good place for those looking to lose weight and find others who have been there and are on the journey as well.
In the last year I have gained about 60lbs putting me up to 260lbs. The largest I have ever been. I am tired of being the fat mom and not feeling up to playing with my kids because it is uncomfortable. I have been becoming a hermit because I do not want people to see me look like this. I do go out for my kids school stuff but if I get invited out I refuse because than I have to find something to wear and well everything is to tight and shows all the weight I have on me.

My goal is to get to 140lbs. I have tried many programs and have decided that I am not going to "diet" anymore because that is how I added 60lbs to my already overweight frame. So now I am going by calorie count and eating cleaner. I made a goal to go from the Couch Potato to competing in my first 5K come September 18th, 2010. That is 4 months to train. I am scared because I have completed 1 day of the Couch to 5K program and well I thought I would keel over by the time I got back to my house!

I look forward to finding some new online friends and support in my journey back to the real me.

This is a great place for support and encouragement... it sounds like you have a great plan and a great state of mind going for you right now. Good luck! :)

Hey Alicia!

This is a great place to chat, vent, ask question, give/get support. I am a Calorie Counter as well and participate in that board http://www.3fatchicks.com/forum/calorie-counters-172/
and the 30-somethings board

Hi Alicia,
I just read your post and wow, it sounds just like mine, I am also a single mom of 2 and I am at 250, I put on about 70 in less than a year. I feel so tired and I dont want to do anything. Today is my first day of getting acuanted with this website too. I need to start reading and get some ideas on how to just start. I feel like a slave to my body and I don't want people to see me. I would be more than happy to be your buddy here too....
you can also email me.
I look forward to reading more about your journey
Trish

Hi Trish-
Yes we do sound similar! I feel like a prisoner of my fat suit, as I call it, as well! My daughter is very athletic and she looks like I did at her age and I worry about her thinking she will be like me when she is older, she is 11yrs old. So as much as this is about me losing weight for me it is for my children as well.

Yeah, I understand, My 5 year keeps asking me to get skinny again...I think she has heard me complain way to much and now knows mommy is happier when she is healthy. My 15 yr old, I am on top of her, I just dont want her to suffer like I do and let it get out of hand especially that young.

Are you going to keep a log on here, that way i can check up on you and others too....

Hi Alicia and welcome to 3FC.

I too am a calorie counter and it has worked wonderfully for me, I have lost 157 pounds to date :).

Good luck with your goals.

Hugs
Michelle

Trish- I am still lurking right now but would like to keep a log on here or a blog about my journey.

Michelle- Thanks! Wow congrats on such a big loss! I have 120 to go to my goal so it seems like it will take many years!
