Hey Everyone! Glad to find this group!
Hi!
I'm Sarah, 30 years old (YIKES!). I'm married to my high school sweetheart, and we have 3 wonderful children. I always weighed about 150 in high school, but had my first child when I was 17. The weight started piling on shortly thereafter. When I had my 3rd child I was 21 years old and weighed 243!! I can say I put on alot of weight because of using Depo Provera birth control through the years, but it was a combination of alot of things. I turned 30 in January of this year and decided it was time for a change... at 288 I was not enjoying life anymore, and I work for a cardiology office, so I know what obesity can do to you! I am currently in nursing school and have an instructor that lost about 90 pounds. I talked to her and she gave me a copy of the diet she used. It's from some program or book called Thin & Healthy's Total Solution (I've never heard of it). The diet focuses on drinking ALOT of water (1/2 your weight in ounces), counting calories & fat grams. My husband then got me a treadmill for our 13 year anniversary. I have been working hard since March 12th and have lost 31 pounds! I have 102 lbs to go. I have a fellow nursing student who is also dieting with me, and we meet with our instructor every Friday to weigh in. It really helps having someone to be accountable to! My friend only had about 35 pounds total to loose though, so I am afraid when she gets to her goal it will just be me by myself! I'm looking forward to meeting new friends and sharing encouragement and success! Does anyone have any secrets or tips? My hard times are late at night when I'm at the computer working on school work... I have to sit at the dining room table with my lap top, with the kitchen directly behind me. The Kids Snacks call my name!! LOL Sarah |
Hi Sarah,
Welcome to the board, we're glad to have you here! Congratulations on the 31 pound loss- that's a HUGE success already! You and I are about the same age and have close to the same goal weights. I use calorie counting as well. There aren't many secrets about weight loss - just that consistency is key! Losing weight isn't easy, but the formula is simple: eat less, move more. But, clearly, you already know this! Once again, congrats. on your loss and welcome! :-) |
Hi Sarah and welcome to 3FC.
My tip is to find a plan and commit to it 150%. Good luck with your goals. Hugs Michelle |
