I'm THAT fat?

Hi! I've been lurking here for about two weeks, and I finally decided to start posting. I am starting my weight loss journey after stepping on the scales and seeing that I was knocking at 300 lbs. WHAT? I'm THAT fat? It was a wake up call for sure. So I'm counting calories and so far I've gone from 294 to 288. I have never been someone who has been concerned with my weight at all. I've always been able to do everything that anybody else could do, so I just never focused on my weight. But something about seeing that 294 on the scales woke. me. up!

I am an emotional/boredom eater, and I've also gained weight due to health issues. Exercise will have to wait for now due to herniated disks in my back. Now that it's warmer I do some light workouts in the pool, but I have to be careful with my back.

This forum has already been so helpful to me, and I'm looking forward to posting more!

Hi onagain!

being an emotional or boredom eater makes it hard, but doable!! I love doing deep water work outs;) would that be ok for your back?

I'm about 280, this is my maximum capacity. I barely want to leave the house. I had to meet with my college professor Monday and was so embarrassed that I nearly had a panic attack. All I keep thinking about is how other people see me, as this fat disgusting person, it keeps me from expressing myself and now I even skip lectures because I hate being on campus surrounded by normal people and feeling so insecure. I would love to lose even just 15 pounds, what a start that would be. The minute I feel sad again though I'm sitting in the drive thru ordering a burger and shake even though I know it's wrong. Anyway, sorry for being so heavy (ha ha no pun intended).
