Desperate

Hi Everyone,

I joined quite some time ago; but never really participated.

I am an emotional eater. I know I will have to address more than just the food. The last number of years have been difficult and I have become isolated and overeat to fill the void.

I am 54 and feel very old. I weigh about 240 lbs. and should be 150 lbs. I cannot even walk a short distance without being winded.

I'm not much of a writer but I am willing to try to do this. I want to live before I die.

Keep your head up Rea!! I am an emotional eater too and I am working on it one day at a time! I've started small, each time I feel a craving, I sat down and ask myself "am I really hungry" this really helps, just that few seconds of pausing gets me thinking. I also have stopped eating after 8pm (I am a huge late night binge eater). There are a lot of really supportive (as well as informative) people here that are in or have been in your situation and can help. Good luck and keep at it!

Hi, Rea,

I only found The Beck Diet Solution after I had initially lost the weight. (I started at almost the exact wt. you are now, and we are close in age, so I can relate to your situation a lot.:hug:) I am convinced I would not have been able to keep the wt. off without learning and embracing the whole program. It makes so much sense, and it addresses every bit of what we face; it really does.

If you want to check our thread out on 3FC, it is under Diet Central, and the Beck Diet Solution. That isn't enough; you would need to get one of her two books and read it and DO it..every single things she says to do, you *have to do, but yanno what? If you DO it, it works. It does. I only have the first book, the one I referenced above, but many on our thread have read both, and some are using the second book, The Beck Diet Solution for Life.

Good luck.

Im an emotional eater too. but I have found that finding distractions when your dealing with different emotions help a lot. and keeps you away from the fridge

And I agree. I want to live b4 I die as well. Thats why I want to get healthy. Thats such a strong quote. Good luck. Nothing but support over here!

Thanks so much for the warm welcome Chunky, Mary, and Oneder. You all helped me to eat in a sane healthy way yesterday and I did get a bit of exercise.

Mary, I will check out The Beck Diet Solution.

Hope I'm here for a long time to come...

Rea
