Hello Everyone! :)

Hi everyone! My name is Becca. I'm 24 years old and I weigh 237lbs :( I've been overweight (& unhappy) since I was about 11. I'm not to sure how I got so big. It seemed like it just crept up on me. So now here I am in a size 18. I've tried all kinds of things to lose weight and lost but I eventually would stop and gain it back and more. This time HAS to be different because I have been diagnosed with poly cystic ovarian syndrome. Basically I have a lot of cysts in my ovaries. PCOS is the leading cause of infertility and can also cause type 2 diabetes, both of which I am terrified of. PCOS can't be cured because it is genetic but some of the related issues can be controlled by losing weight. My goal is to weigh a healthy 145lbs. I'm motivated, excited and ready to go! I look forward to getting all of your support and in return supporting all of you! Let's go ladies! We can do this!:D

Hi Becca! It is great that you are starting this journey and lifelong change :-) I am also relatively new to this site and love it so far. It is a great way to connect and just read other peoples stories. There is so much great information here and it can help you decide the route best for you. I personally have been striving toward the whole food way of eating and feel great so far! I am not 100% whole food, probably more like 75% but I just feel healthier overall.
Wishing you the best of luck and hope you find great health and happiness!

I have recently went to the dr after having only 2 periods in 1 year. He did an ultrasound and saw the cysts, I have to do the last set of tests for the cholesterol, insulin and glucose to find out for sure. I know where you are coming from being scared about the diabetes. I am also scared bc he said PCOS can make you gain wt and have trouble losing it. So I am really trying to change my lifestyle habits so I can be healthier.....I can really connect with you! Good luck and keep us posted.
