Hello!

  • Hello Everyone, I'm new to posting, but I have been reading on this site for the past few months. I am extremely motivated to keep loosing for a bunch of different reasons. Mainly, I just want to be healthy and not categorized as obese! In december 08, at age 24, I had blood clots, one in my leg and the other that went to my heart and actually caused a heart attack. The doctors have assured me that my weight had nothing to do with it at the time, but now that I have minor damage I need to take care of myself. I am happy to say that I have been taken off all of the medications since august 09 and I have been doing great! I have already lost 108 lbs, but I still have a good chunk to go! I am getting pretty tired of the dieting, but not willing to give up! I am looking forward to getting married in October and being a whole new me by then!! This past Friday I was laid-off so if anyone has pointers of how to eat well without spending too much money, I would be very interested in any advice!! I am a social worker, so I didn't make much to begin with, but now I will make next to nothing

I look forward to interacting with you all and everyone has some great stories!!! Keep Going Everyone!
  • I'm also new here. Good luck!
  • Welcome to you both!

  • Bekah, I just joined yesterday as well. Wow, a heart attack at 24, that's scary! Glad you are better and taking steps to get healthy for life. Congrats on losing 108 lbs, that's amazing!
  • Wow congrats on losing 108 lbs so far. I'm sorry to hear you had a heart attack at such a young age. I am glad that you have joined, I am fairly new as well but find that the feedback and tips on 3fc is really helpful.
  • Hi! I am new too, but really great to see you here. COngrats on the 100 pound loss! WOW!! I am so ready to hear peoples tips and tricks for taking off the weight! THis site looks really great! Hope to see you around!
  • Welcome Bekah! 100 pounds down is fantastic!

I'm sorry to hear you were laid off. I work in a non profit, so I have to watch my grocery spending too. I get a lot of basics at ALDI because they are so reasonable, but I don't know if Maine has one or something equal to that. I am very happy that the farmers markets are about to open again. I can get a lot of produce for half of what it runs at my local grocery store. I've also gotten into the habit of making a big pot of soup on the weekend, freezing half of it and eating the other half for lunch all week. Not super exciting, but good for me and inexpensive. I had to take a soup break this week though lol.

    Good luck!
