my intro: an overweight vegetarian??

Yes. I am an overweight vegetarian. :o I am also a pastry chef. I am 34 with 2 children- a 2 year old daughter and a 3 month old son. I have been struggling with my weight for about 20 years. When I was in high school, at 117 lbs, I thought I was huge. Oh, what I would give to be 117 again! I did weightwatchers off and on for the past 10 years but I find that it may be a bit too much freedom for me. I am looking for a very structured program to start off with. Like, eat this monday for breakfast, this for lunch. Just looking for the right fit... I live in Massachusetts and there are no gyms nearby so I plan to rely heavily on walking. I lost 42 lbs in 1999- I walked 3 miles a day, 5 days a week and that was my only exercise. So... here I am!

I'm a vegetarian too! And i wish i were a pastry chef. I've been limiting my carbs (i'm used to eating a LOT of rice and a LOT of pasta) and increasing my vegetables. Good luck in finding a veggie friendly plan! I'm sure with your culinary background you can get creative and have some fun in a new way of eating.

:welcome3: to 3fc's ~ this is a very supportive place as you probably have already noticed; and there are lots of great people here too. We have age & weight forums, food plan forums, plus a vegetarian forum; exercise threads, tons of info, and so much more.

Look around, read lots, then just jump right in wherever you feel comfortable ... :D
