My story is probably similar to some. I've always been a little on the big side. I weighed about 145 lbs my senior year of high school and thought I looked great. Thus, that's my goal weight!
After high school, I got into a serious relationship and became comfortable. Add that to being in college and eating out all the time....I guess it's easy to see how the weight piled on. I hit my peak in September 2008 at 205 lbs. I lost 30 lbs in about 4 months. Since then, I've slacked off a bit and gained about 5 back.
I've finally decided to get motivated again. I have a cruise in May and I'm a bridesmaid in two weddings this summer. It'll be hard to reach my goal weight in that short of time, but I'm hoping I can drop enough weight by then to feel comfortable in a bikini on my cruise!
I'm happy to be restarting my journey here with all the wonderful support that I've seen on this board!
to 3fc's ~ this is a very supportive place; and there's lots of great people here too. Look around, read lots, then just jump right in wherever you feel comfortable ...
Congrats on your great start; you will get that 5 back off in no time ...
Hi MotoSauce!
Congrats on your success so far, don't beat yourself up over getting distracted, it happens - sounds like you're ready to get it done for that cruise and the weddings (always great motivators!) - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.
Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired. Try the 20 somethings and the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation.
There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.
I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.
So welcome - you've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!
All the best - good luck with your goals - here's to being an even more fabulous bridesmaid,
Lee
