Hi Chicks! Looking for support!

Ok, so here goes...

I am 24 years old. I have struggled with my weight all my life. I have always been pretty heavy-set, but within the last couple of years, I've gotten really heavy. I am 5'3", and currently weigh 218 lbs. I started calorie counting a little over 2 weeks ago, and have lost 6 lbs. I'm looking for people that are going through the same thing that I am going through, so thats why I'm here.

=]

I got married in July, and was at 208 lbs. Right after the wedding, the hubby and I moved from Oklahoma to Pennsylvania (for his job), and I guess I started packing on the pounds then. I quit my job right before we moved, and currently am a homemaker.

My ultimate goal is to get to 140-160 lbs. I've been around 200lbs for most of my life, so I am unsure of what weight I will look/feel the best at. My husband doesn't want me to get "too skinny", but I want to feel comfortable and super-confident for the first time in my life.

I am super tight with my family back in Oklahoma... We're really close knit, but I always felt like the ugly duckling...
My mom is 5'9 and 135
My middle sister is 5'7 and 130ish
And I'm 5'3 and 218... =]

So, I've finally got the motivation (Hopefully) to get healthy. I'm hoping that if my husband starts seeing the progress I'm making, he will want to make healthier choices as well.

We're not parents, yet, but hopefully will be in the future, and I want us to be able to be actively involved in our future childrens lives.... So, time to make a change.

Sorry for rambling! I'm just super excited that I found this place!!

Good luck ladies! Any and all support and tips and encouragement is GREATLY appreciated!!! :D

Welcome! I'm glad you found this place too! Check out the 20 something forum for good support. Lots of great places to post all over the board, actually.

:wel3fc: Hi MrsHoneycutt!
Congrats on your success so far, you're off to a great start with a good plan - how smart to focus on being healthy for the long term - I know it's so difficlut to move away from your family but the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired. Try the 20 somethings, the Calorie Counters and the weight loss support forums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success stories are a definite must for motivation.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! :df:

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee

Welcome. :welcome3: I do understand you. The good thing is you didn't wait until later in life to do something like I did. Before I finally made the decision to be totally committed I was trying to get my husband to make some changes in his eating but he didn't because he didn't see the need to, he is in pretty good shape but when he started to see I was committed and was getting results, he got on the band wagon. Now we are making better choices, have the energy to keep up with our 20 month old daughter and we both are getting results. So just keep going and he will join in. :high:

Thank you all so much! I am really excited to be here... I woke up and weighed this morning, and was 0.7lbs lighter than yesterday, so that got my day off to a good start. It's hard to see the scale barely moving everyday, but at least its moving downward!

My husband works in the oil and gas industry and is gone for weeks at a time, living out of hotels, and eating restaurant food when he's gone, so I know it's a little difficult for him. He's about 5'9 and 230lbs... I know if he just got it in his head that this is what he wants to do, he could do it in a heart beat. =] He's very strong willed... Me on the other hand, I break easily! =] I just want to get as "hot" as possible for myself, and for him! That sounds kinda silly, but I do... =]

Well, gonna wander around the boards a little this morning and see what I can get myself into. I'm thinking about going from 1500 cals a day to 1200 cals a day, but I don't know if that is too restrictive for me. I'm home all day by myself, so I tend to eat when I'm bored.... Any suggestions?

Have a fabulous day ladies!

Hi Mrs. Honeycutt, Welcome. I am also new here and I also once lived in the Happy Valley. Word of advice- stay the heck away from the Waffle Shop (ha ha!) I think that place caused about 15 out of the 23 pounds of weight gain over the 9 months I lived there! Do not, under any circumstances, let anybody lure you into that place. Anway, I too, have been overweight my entire life. Back in the 80's, when I was a kid (I know you're a decade younger than me-yikes!), being "fat" was definitely a stigma. Were your mom and sister kind to you about your weight? How has being overweight that long affected your self-image? I have never known what it's like to be in the normal height/weight chart range or have a good BMI, but just want to be healthy now. Good for your for doing this now before you have kids. You will be happy you did.
