Day 2
Just want to say hi to everyone and hope to help each other out during our journey. I am 30 years old, 5'4 198.5 was my weight in yesturday. I did great eating yesturday and i ran 1.6 miles on the treadmile. It was a slow pace but a start. Today i weighted in at 196.4 and i know its water weight but i like to weight myself everyday in the morning. For breakfast i had two pieces of bread with butter and jelly. Lunch i had romen and one egg and for dinner im going to have rice and eggs. I plan on doing an excercise video today before dinner. Wish me luck and will check back in tomorrow. How is everyone getting that scale? I'd like to track my progress that way too.

I ran for 10 mins at 6.2 on the treadmil and it was .90 miles. I then did an exercise video for 15 mins. I plan on running tomorrow. I'll post my weight in too. This is a very active formum. Very friendly people as well. Thank you guys.

goodmorning 3fc, i did not overeat last night yeah!!! I weighted in at 195.2 im having a bowl of honey combs a cup of black coffee and a glass of water with psyllium fiber supplement in the water.
for lunch i had cup of tea, glass of water, rice, veggies and bbq sliced meat. im going to save my sweet treat for after dinner. so far so good.
i lost 40 lbs in two months 4-5 years ago using this method. I was able to keep the weight off for a year going from 16 tight to a tight 8 but then slower started gaining it back. now im in the 16 tight again. i hope this method will help me out again. I eat everything on a small child size plate. What ever i want but in fist size portions so the rice was a palm size, the meat and veggies as well and it fit on my plate. I think the warm tea also makes me feel satisfied. the problem will come on the weekend where i binge. when i make a meal i will put the left overs in a plastic quart size ziplock and put it in the freezer. so when im ready for a nice meal i can have a hot one and not just fill up on whatever is fast. so that meat and rice i ordered a week ago and put the left overs in nice portions in the freezer. I took one out and put it in the microwave for 1 min. placed the food on the plate and out of the bag. then microwaved it for another min. so now it's hot but not too hot and i dont have cold spots. Hope this works again. I'm not day 3 of the change in my habbits.
I do the same thing with putting meals in the freezer. I helps me not have an excuse to get off plan I found the challenges here very motivational also. Good luck with your goals.
dinner-i had rice, meat and a veggi. tea and water. Did not feel like having a sweet so i'll pass. I know i'll want it tomorrow. I ran for 20 mins at 5.8. My treadmills belt is slipping so i'll have to tighten it before i can run again so i think workout videos for tomorrow.
Day 4 This morning's weight in was 194.4 i had a bowl of honey nut cherrios, a small orange and coffee and large glass of water. Lunch was small pancake with chicken and lettuce. Dinner was Chicken with teriyaki sauce , rice and green beans. I did not exercise today but I will tomorrow. I wasn’t hungry for dessert so I passed.
:carrot: for passing on dessert, Mellony! We can do without it.
wow judi you are doing great. That is great progress on your quest. I should start putting footer on mine.
1-22-10- (goal 188.8) 1-11-10- 198.5 start 198.5 |
Day 5 This morning weight in 193.8 bowl of honey comb an orange, coffee and water. Lunch-rice and meat Dinner- cheesy chicken, potatoes corn and cheesy biscuits. Dessert I wanted a small fruit cup. I ran 10 mins at 6.5 and did an exercise video for 15. See you in the morning.
You're doing great, Mellony! I wish you the best of luck in reaching your health goals!
thank you we can do this together
It seems like the things you are eating are not what anyone would eat on a diet. Honey nut cherios? Cheesy chicken, biscuits, potato, corn, pancakes, rice? This is the worst food for losing weight. This seems like normal SAD food, not any food with weight loss as a goal.
I was going to say actually that I don't dare eat white rice because it seems to make me binge like crazy. I don't know why but if I eat anything that has white rice in it, I will be hungrier than ever two hours from then (or even sooner.)
If it works for you, keep going with it, but if you find yourself way too hungry or wanting to binge or something, it might be worth it to try a different food combination. I know we all are different, have different bodies, etc. I think you are doing an amazing job so far. Don't mean to criticize at all! I'm actually kind of jealous of anyone who can eat white rice with self-control. :) Wish I could do that because white rice is one of my favorite foods on earth. So of course it's a binge food for me, sigh.... |
so far so good. I'm not on a diet. I am changing my lifestyle that helped me lose weight 5 years ago. I find if i deprive myself i will bieng and have to start all over and it would be a never ending cycle. If i can do good this weekend i think i can make this journey once again.

You know, I was thinking the exact same thing when I first read Melony's thread....but then read that she only ate what fit on a small plate....and figured she was using militant portion control and ergo, low-calorie weight loss.
Now for me, this would never work. Simple carbs like white rice, biscuits and cake would send me into constant hunger and craving/binge mode. I do best on Atkins/very low-carbing. But I have come to realize that different strokes for different folks seems to apply.....that many have amazing success on diets that would never work for me. While at the same time, there are people for whom Atkins won't work. What Melony uses to prevent craving/binges is the exact opposite of what would work for me. But if it works for her, it works for her, I guess. Now...whether the food is the healthiest or not....THAT is an entirely different story. :D But then.....there are many who think that the low-carb, higher fat foods on Atkins isn't healthy...even though I happen to disagree. deena :) |
Day 6 weight in at 192.2. Breakfast-Half of a small cinnamon roll. Lunch 2 slices of pepperoni pizza. Dinner- rice, chicken and green beans. One ice cream bar. Did not exercise today.
Deena, great job on your journey, 8 more to go!!! Wonderful news.
Thanks so much, Mellony. :)
You are starting right where I did...in the 190's. I'm 5 ft. 4 in. How tall are you? I'm really intrigued by how this is working for you. I'm extremely interested in metabolism, dieting, nutrition, etc. and am currently reading "Good calories, Bad calories" by Gary Taubes. If you don't mind me asking a few questions, do you feel satisfied with the amount of food you're eating? Having this method satisfy craving/binge problems, are you having any problems with plain hunger? Theoretically, when one eats sugar and simple carbs, it may temporarily cause an insulin surge which then drops the blood sugar....which often causes quick hunger again. I believe I am a true carbohydrate addict....because these foods cause constant hunger and intense cravings for me....whereas on militant low carb, these problems totally disappear. Therefore....it's so difficult for me to....well, not exactly to understand, as I do actually understand the premise of what you're doing....but to actually "feel" or "sense" how this could work....knowing how it would work the opposite for me. Hope that made sense.:) But the difficulty for me is based on physiologic concepts....and I suspect that your method is based more on psychologic concepts. I'm guessing that for YOU, the big problem when dieting is feeling deprived....when you cannot have the things you like. You would rather be able to have them, albeit in very small quantities, rather than to have to avoid them altogether. The main part that I can't figure out is whether or not you have hunger issues due to eating such small amounts/portions. deena :) |
i too am 5'4 and i don't feel hungry at all. I eat three small meals a day with one dessert that is 100 calaries ( just one dessert a day). It worked for me before 5 years ago and i know it will work for me. I can't eat salad all the time, i can't deprive myself. It will work for me for maybe a week but then i find i will stuff myself with whatever i can get my hands on later. I didn't feel like that 5 years ago and i don't feel like that now. I do hope it works again im only on day 7. I am very proud of you again and i plan on your weight right now around 140. Cheers!
Sunday Day 7 weight in at 192.0. breakfast-oatmeal Lunch-Roman with egg small orange. Dinner-half of a pulled chicken sandwich, broccoli, home fries. 5 cheetos, and two Hershey miniatures. Did not exercise today.
You're doing great, Mellony!
It is fascinating to me how each of us has a different metabolism and different things that tempt us, and I still am convinced it has something to do with some of us being more prone to blood sugar variations or more sensitive or something.... But it's working for you, and boy anything that works, keep on doing it! Congratulations on doing so great your first week! I'm a newbie too and just starting and I know how hard that first week is! |
thank you lori, I've tried almost everything and i can only follow it for 4 -5 days and i feel good, i feel full and thank you for your encouragement. I do have a sweet tooth and love refined sugars. What is helping me so far is knowing i can have a small treat after dinner. I will post a picture either tonight or tomorrow. Nothing much has changed except the water weight but that feels good too.

Hi all, i fell off the wagon for a while. The week of the 18th i went south. I was going overboard with the overeatting and not exercising. I got back on track on the 25th and im currently at 192.6. My goal is by the 8th of Feb to be 188, i'm be working on it really hard and trying not to fall again.
This morning i weighted in at 189.6 one more pound to go then i've meet my mini goal yeah!!! As of now my long term goal is 49.6 pounds to lose bringing me to 140. I can do it!!!!
i exercised today and yesturday i always do well at the beginning of the week then fall behind at the end. I'm suppost to work out 6 times a week but last week i missed 3 days. I weighted in at 190.0 still haven't met my mini-goal yet but that day will come soon enough.
