Cat's Introduction
Hi Everyone!
I'm new to the site, have been reading posts here for a couple of days and decided to make myself known. I am about 5'2" and weigh 252lbs. I am 27 years old. I have always been a "big girl" and it's never really bothered me. I never really kept up with my weight, but after joining a gym and seeing that I had to push the scale to 250, I was like whoa - this can't be good. That was a couple of years ago and I went to the gym after work on a pretty regular basis and never dropped but maybe 10lbs so of course I got discouraged. Overtime, trying to buy a house and the death of my grandmother and father kept me from the gym so I gained back the 10lbs I worked so hard for LOL. I don't really eat unhealthy as I absolutely adore fruits and veggies so I include them whenever possible. I think my main problem is snaking at night, my desk job, and my love of computer/xbox games :-P. I "indulged" on myself for Christmas and bought an elliptical, weight bench and the Wii Fit Plus. So as of January 1, I'm making a weekly goal of weight loss of 2lbs a week. I started waking up way too early in the morning (NOT a morning person) and doing 20-25 minutes on the elliptical every morning. I'm cutting back on coffee and not really counting calories - but limiting what I eat to be more concious of "empty" carbs. And at night when my schedule permits - I am doing 20-30 minutes of activities on the Wii Fit or 15-20 min on the elliptical. Another idea someone suggested to me was to ONLY eat at the dining room table, which I have ahered to so far. So no TV time snacks! And of course the most important factor that has been drilled into my head is WATER so I spend about half my day in the bathroom (it feels like!) :-P So far, I do find working out first thing in morning to be easier to do than late in the afternoon when I'm already worn down and stressed from work. I look forward to meeting and getting to know people on this site and I hope that we can help each other out. Thanks! |
Welcome! I'm glad you decided to join :)
I am a newbie myself and just realized that I must love the site a little TOO much since I'm always one of the first ones welcoming all the other new girls, lol. I'm just so excited to see everyone so motivated and I love meeting new people. I hope to get to know you better and look forward to your very near future success posts! Good luck! |

:wel3fc: Hi Cat!
Sounds like you're off to a great start with a good plan and a can-do attitude - how smart to realize your "weaknesses" and design your plan around them to keep from being sabotaged - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on. Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired - you'll be a wonderful addition to any of them. Try the 20 somethings and the weight loss support foums, they're active and very helpful - also the Success Stories section ia definite must for motivation! There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way. I've only been here since last fall, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far. So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! :df: All the best - good luck with your goals, Lee |
