Talking Newbie in San Diego

Hi, my name is Carly and I live in San Diego. I work full time and go to school full time. I'm on my own out here, other than my wonderful boyfriend. I am obsessed with the ocean, snorkeling and anything to do with either one of them. I also love photography and will take a picture of everything and anything. I'm always the one people go to when they need a laugh or cheering up. I'm just a genuine person that loves to laugh and smile and share that with those close to me. I have a huge heart and will do anything for those close to me. A few weeks ago I was at target and a little kid said to his mom ,"WOW look at that fat girl". I just wanted to cry. I've been big my whole life. People always tell me I have such a pretty face and could only imagine what I would look like thin. I've lost weight before and kept it off, but since moving to California 5 years ago I've been struggling and gained it all back and then some. I am really ready to lose weight and learn how to keep it off. I've joined a gym and am eating healthy. I just need support from others that are going through what I am. I'm looking to make new friends who truly understand what I am going through, it's easier said then done but I am truly ready to be healthy once and for all! I look forward to hearing from anyone and everyone. I have a big goal and a long journey! I just want to lose weight in a healthy way, no matter how long it takes!Any tips, suggestions or stories that would be inspirational or helpful please feel free to share

Default Hey CM

I just left SD after having lived there for a while. You can do it. I'm on my 5th day on SB plan and I can resist the chocolate in the house without a major breakdown, lol. Welcome!

Hi Carly!
Many of us have lost and gained it back (& more) -no looking back, no beating yourself up, just moving forward - you're so smart to make your priority health and not a diet or a number - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired - you'll be a wonderful addition to any of them - your positve outlook will be a support to others. There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee

Hi Carly and welcome to 3FC.

My tips for starting out would be -
1. Make yourself a priority.
2. Never give up on yourself; you deserve to be healthy and happy.
3. Take it one step at a time and don't let any part of your journey overwhelm you or discourage you.
4. Be sure to eat enough to fuel your body.
5. Be active every day.

You can do this

Good luck with your goals.

Hugs
Michelle
