Time to Move Forward

  • I'm 36 years old, single mom of a 2 year old little girl. I didn't start gaining weight til i was 25. And now I'm up to 264.2. A friend at work is helping me try to make better choices. He's got me making two changes right now to start, and that is to drink more water. 130 Oz a day, and everytime I go to the bathroom I climb two sets of stairs. Also to change my breakfast choices. So Today I have officially started. Would be nice to find more support as not eating is a HUGE struggle for me. Can anyone suggest what Group I should join? My Strech goal weight is 130lbs, goal is 160lbs. So I have roughly 100-130lbs to lose. I'm a terribly impatient person, and I just want to wake up tomorrow and all the bad weight and bad choices be gone. It does not help I have a high stress drama filled life due to ex and family and work issues and no real friends to talk to about what I'm going through. Food was my only comfort and now I'm fixin to deprive myself of that, and I'm worried how I'm going to handle everything.
  • Hello and welcome! I am glad you are joining us!

Sounds like you have made some positive steps forward; keep up the good work, it will pay off.

In terms of groups to join, it depends on what you are looking for. There is a group for people looking to lose 100 pounds or more and there is a group for people in their 30s. Either (or both) of those might be a good place to start.

3fc has been an integral part of my weight loss; there is lots of support, advice, and motivation here.

I wish you the best on your weight loss journey! Please keep us posted regarding your progress.

    Cheers,

    J
  • Welcome Moveforward!

I can relate to not having any friends to talk to about losing weight. None of my friends need to lose weight, and besides, I'm very private and self-concious about the issue, and don't like to discuss it with people. No one knows that I'm trying to lose weight, that I'm eating healthier, etc, that is, other than a bunch of people on the internet! And luckily, no one has noticed yet, or at least if they have, they haven't said anything.

I guess my point is that since I don't have anyone in real life to talk to about this, like you, I've found that this site is incredibly useful! I can see that other people have the exact same struggles as I do. What I thought was strange, unique behavoir, I learn others do it to, which is tremendously comforting. You are not alone!

Come on over to the 100lbs club, everyone is super friendly!
  • Hi MoveForward!
Your friend has given you good advice -making small changes can add up to great results and it keeps from feeling overwhelmed and frustrated - you can do this for a healthier and happier you (and your precious little one) - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to get you through a step at a time.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired - you'll be a wonderful addition to any of them. There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help get through the ups and downs. Try the 100 Lb. forum, the 30 somethings forum, weight loss support - they're all active and very helpful.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired!

All the best - good luck with your goals,
    Lee
