Newbie

Hello! I'm a 41 year old mom from Nevada. Just found 3FC and really need motivation and support.

I work full time .... M-F, 8:00 to 5:00. At my job, I am part of an informal group of employees who is trying to lose weight. We weigh in each Friday, and help to support and encourage each other throughout the week. In fact, I lost 12.8 pounds in the first 2 months that we started our little group.

Here's the problem. I had two weeks of vacation time throughout the holidays (going back to work tomorrow) ... and I am sure I've probably gained back most, if not all, of what I lost! :(

I ate like crap and rarely exercised the entire two weeks I've been at home. I'm a bit ashamed to go back and face the scale. AND, I'm still not feeling motivated to get back on track.

Maybe someone on here can give me the kick in the rear that I need to get going again. I weigh approx. 186-190 lbs. and would like to get down to about 135 - 140.

Thanks for any advice you can offer. :)

Hi partyplanner and welcome.:)

I highly doubt you are going to be the only one who gained weight in your group when you return to work and weigh-in. Just from reading around here, you can clearly see that many, many members had the same difficulty with the holidays. The whole Thanksgiving/Christmas/New Years period is probably the most difficult time of the year to stay on plan.

One suggestion would be to try a totally different plan. And one that fits really well with your schedule since you work full-time. I'd imagine exercising can be tough to fit in at times. I no longer try to do the gym thing....I walk. I finally realized I didn't really like going to the gym all that much and needed to find something I liked so was much more likely to be able to stick with for the long term.
Also....some sort of different plan might motivate you. Often, people get bored using the same plan they used before and go into the "ugh, now I have to go through THIS again" mode. Sometimes, a totally different plan can re-energize and re-motivate you.

Every possible diet plan imaginable is on this site....somewhere. I would read around and see if any of them interest you.

deena :)

:wel3fc: Hi partyplanner!
Hey, I'm sure you're not going to be the Lone Ranger at work (you're certainly not here - the holidays have a way of doing that to so many of us) - no looking back, no beating yourself up, just moving forward - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated and inspired - you'll be a wonderful addition to any of them. There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of going off track or giving up. It has made all the difference in my success so far.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! :df:

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee
