The fat army wife

Ive seen it at every post I've been to, the fat army wife. Now I am NOT saying that all army wives are big, or fat whatever...But we are out there. Yes I do mean we, myself included. I don't know if its the stress of being alone so much, and the depression that follows that. There are though many military spouses out there that suffer from the bulge and weight of our lifestyle. Our husbands go on deployment and we all jump up and say "here's my chance to transform myself while he's away!" and a lot of us make great progress in that time. Then the hubby comes home and the gym sorta slips quitely into the furthest thought in our mind. Then the impressive cooking begins, "oh honey do you want me to make you that extremely fattening rich alfredo sauce you missed so much? Did you say you wanted a chocolate cake for dessert too?" Its no big thing for them to eat that sort of stuff cause they got that 5:30 am PT wake up call in the morning. Well my husband is gone again on deployment this time, and I have decided to do the great army wife transformation while he's away. Bought myself a gym membership which I have been using 4 to 5 days a week. First time gym member over here!!!<--------------:carrot: I'm really enjoying the gym I never thought I would say that! My goal is to lose the weight and keep it off this time. So here I am, hello and looking forward to conversing with you all!

:wel3fc: Hi Ishlaud!
There are certainly so many challenges and sacrifices in being part of a military family - one is taking care of everything & everyone but yourself. Sounds like you're already off to a great start - the support you need is here - we'll all be here to cheer you on.

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different eating plans and exercise to help choose the right ones for you and get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! :df:

All the best - good luck with your goals,
Lee

:tree: Happy Holidays!

Oh I can so relate! My husband is in the ARmy also and its so hard to juggle being a single parent and doing EVERYTHING without help. I gained a lot of weight this past deployment. He's been to Iraq twice and just got back from his 2nd tour in September. I wish I would of lost weight while he was deployed but dealing with 2 kids and a dog it was to much. Thankfully since weve been married over 6 years he Loves me no matter what size I am, and thats what helps me stay focused.

Me too! I am on a weight loss journey because I am sick of his 'buddies' making fun of him for being with an overweight wife. I hate the questioning looks that we get about how he's with me. As vain as it is I want to be a trophy wife in the physical form not so much just the arm candy.
