My name is Jen. I live in the upper midwest and I just joined a weight loss challenge through my work and it couldn't have happened at a better/worse time! Better because I need to lose the weight that makes me feel unsightly/unsexy and just bad. Worse because it's starting just before two major holidays and I am not known for restraint at the table.

It is all good, though if I achieve my goal at a pace that is maintainable.

I have about 40 pounds to lose and so far in the last week (since starting) I have lost 2.5 of that through just toning and cutting portions.

My goal is to reach or be real close to my new weight by my birthday which is March.

I am looking to keep on track and maybe meet a few cool folks in the meantime.

Hi Piscean, Congrats on your loss so far! I have heard that losing about 1 to 2 pounds a week is healthy! So way to go!!! I have to lose about 30 to 40 pounds and hope to find some cool people to support me through it too! Watching portions is a good start! Good luck with reaching your goals! Keep up the great work!!

Sounds like you're ready to go and off to a great start - the support you need is here - you can do this - and we'll all be here to cheer you on!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different plans to help get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! :df:
