Chocolate Loving Newbie.

Hi! My name is Dusty, I am 32, married with 2 girls.
I found this forum when I was searching for inspiration (I found it!). I am kind of short on willpower. I thought if I found a place that inspires, I may be able to conquer my lack of chocolate control.

My weight issues started in high school but sky rocketed after my children came. Being in the Air Force and moving doesn't help. I am a people person but moving sometimes makes finding true friends hard. So, I enjoy my family and well ice cream. I have been up and down constantly and am ready for a change.

About a week ago, I had to run up the stairs to get the phone and I was completely out of breath. Our staircase has like 10 steps. I realized something had to give soooo....The first thing I decided to change was to quit smoking. That in itself is a battle. But all the research I have done to quit suggest to take the bad habit and replace it with a good one. So, my good habit of choice is to walk. We live in Florida, the weather is beautiful, may as well enjoy it. I also wanted to have some focus on not eating in place of smoking. I bought more fruits and vegetables this week to encourage better eating (nevermind there is ice cream hidden in the back of the freezer).

Anyway, sorry. I get windy. Right now I weigh 255 lbs. Seriously just weighed myself and had scale shock. *sigh* I aim to get to 150. I don't so much have a deadline because I worry that if I see I am going to fail that I will just quit.

I am going to try to get a group of spouses together to hit the gym but the spouses in my husbands unit are skinny. Right now my only support system is my husband (with his bony butt) and my family in Ohio. Kinda a stinky system but honestly, it will work. Hopefully. So, that is my story. Thanks for listening! I am going to go lurk at the amazing before/after pics!!!! Have a great Thanksgiving!

Welcome Dusty!

You'll find 3FC very helpful, I think. There's support and encouragement here everyday, all day.

:wel3fc: Hi Dusty!
Sounds like you're ready to get going - good luck with your goals - we'll all be here to cheer you on!

Glad to have you join us! There are lots & lots of different groups and forums - I'm sure you'll find some that will keep you motivated, inspired and entertained! There's also info and first hand advice on different plans to help you choose the right one for you and get through the ups and downs.

There are bunches of people here with more to lose and some with less - the bottom line is that we all have to do it a day at a time. The good thing is that we'll have lots of company along the way.

I've only been here a few months myself, having NEVER been part of an online forum. What has been so eye-opening is how much it has helped me. Whenever I feel overwhelmed or defeated, I just log on and read some of the success stories, complete with their before & after photos - or read about others still dealing day to day with their challenges - and before I know it, the time has flown by and so have all the thoughts of cheating or giving up.

So welcome - you 've found the right place - join in by inspiring us and being inspired! :df:
